FDX Substitution

That's not always a valid argument. Example: I had a 4 day trip with a 3 day layover in Mexico City over the New Year a couple years ago. My trip was cancelled a week prior. I sat at home in NC waiting for the call and ready to elect OTP, and it came right on time. I was offered a 1 day trip on the 4th day with a deadhead. I took the trip! I worked 1 day for 4 days of pay. If I had elected OTP, I would have had to work 4 days for 5 days of pay! Personally, I like options before making decisions, but yes, normally OTP is the way to go, IMO.

One other lesser known tidbit....
If the trip you were pulled off was more than 72 hours TAFB, you can request skeds to build you a hotel standby pairing to cover your sub window.
May be an option if you're already in domicile and don't want to commute home, especially if you don't have a crashpad. Gets the per diem clock ticking as well.
