Default Fedex application for pilots abroad

Good Morning,

The fedex application says that due to USPS requirement, a pilot applicant cannot have lived outside the US for more than 6 months.

I am a furloughed pilot currently working in the middle east. I have been there for over 2 years now. My family lives in the US though and the most I am out is 120 days and then I come back to the US for 2 weeks or so. I am not on a commuting contract.

I have always wanted to work for Fedex but does my situation preclude me from applying?

Can anyone provide me some reliable info ?

thanks

I'm sorry to say that you've answered your own question. Here's the requirement, direct from the FedEx website:

"Candidates for jobs involving handling or access to U.S. mail cannot be considered for employment if they have resided outside the U.S., Guam or Puerto Rico for more than (6) six months during the last (5) years prior to today's date, other than the following verifiable exceptions: active duty in the U.S. Uniformed Service; trailing spouse or dependent of someone working for the U.S. government (military or civilian); missionary; student attending school in a foreign country; Peace Corps participant; employee of a U.S. based employer/company or other extraordinary circumstances."

It's worth a phone call to Fedex HR. If you maintained permanent US residence while working outside of the US, did you really LIVE outside the US? Significant difference between living outside the US and working outside the US.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would anyone have an email or a phone number that I could use to contact HR? I was unable to find one on the website.

I'll bet the Post Office and the IRS have similar criteria for determining residency.

It's not HR, but more likely it has to do with the security screening and back ground checks required for the USPS. Sorry but I think you're SOL.

You could run for Mayor of Chicago though.

So what does Fedex have to do with the USPS? Why is there not this requirement for UPS or any other carrier that occasionally carries the mail?
