Default Comparison of UPS/FedEx Benefits

Looking for objective facts for comparison/targeting of these two companies as far as long term benefits in addition to base salaries. Some info on APC, but is it current/accurate?

-Number of paid vacation/sick days annually

-401K min/max annual contribution limits and how much matched by company

-Stock options

-Relocation allowance

-Education benefits for employee & family

-Travel benefits IE: Passes on commercial flts for employee & family or possible "Space A" seats on company acft

Two other things you should examine are:

- IPA vs ALPA

- Who is growing and who is shrinking

That's no comparison. Fdx wins hands down from employee treatment to upgrade and pass and shipping benefits. There is an old saying around here which says I took a job at UPS so my kids don't have too. Do yourself a favor go purple and don't look back. The only time u should think brown is when you sitting on a toilet because that's where this place is heading.
Good luck.

I'll take a stab at a few of these,

Number of paid vacation/sick days annually - 365 days a year if you are part of the select 109.

Relocation allowance - excellent ONE WAY relocation packages to Anchorage Alaska where they will leave you unemployed.

Agreed. Stay away from UPS. Go with FedEx. UPS blows. I could never recommend anybody to come fly for these idiots.

UPS is like the adult film industry -- they'll pay you to get scrwed. Go with FEDEX.

No need to compare. UPS is not hiring. Go to Fedex. Ups hates its employees.

Default Wow

I used to have both as my dream job. Some years ago I thought UPS primarily because you get paid for years and position. This means that I don't have to worry about bidding over A/C etc. Given the current development, one is definitely off the table. Not that it matters until someone offers you a job anyway. I don't know how UPS is going to try to undo the damage they have done to their pilots, but as a standard business model they are screwed. Every company has "propaganda" to make their employees believe in the company mission. What message are they trying to send, AND how dedicated to the company are a bunch of highly educated professionals going to be after such treatment? I know that there are battles. The company wants to pay less. The pilots want better pay. However, the current tactics seem fruitless as now they have pi$$ed off/on the people they rely on. Someone smarter than me in management must believe that they will still turn .01c more profit for this. Good luck to the bottom. I hope you find a way to pay the bills and one day be free from a company that does not value their most valuable asset....

At FDX you can count on about 1 month of sick leave and a little less than 1 month to start of paid vacation. It grows to a little less than 1.5 months at 5 years and a little less than 2 months at 10 years (sort of). Those numbers assume you max your vacation out and bid appropriately.

401K is minimal company match but we do get a 6% B fund to go with our 2% per year pension growth up to 50% of your high 5 at 25 years.

Stock option none worth mentioning.

Relocation allowance, none to start unless you plan on moving to HKG. Later in your career there are some benies to moving to another base, but nothing to write home about.

Ed benies pretty good for employee I dont think any for family.

Travel benies, yes if you dont mind traveling STBY you can get passes with other airlines. No Family on FDX jets.

Upgrade to Capt at least 10 years. If the age changes to 70 15 years.

I suspect you are not a pilot or you would have asked about Pay. UPS has us beat by a mile especially if you figure you will spend 30% of your time narrow body. But we have lots of hidden money we just havent found it yet.
