I voted NO because....while I unerstand the company's position with regard the the NPRM...I still think that the leverage effect of the FDA issue is very important.
let's say we give them this contract, they give us a 3% riase. two years from now, contract negotiations begin.
-what makes you think that they want to sign a contract with us? luts say they give us 3 rpenct this year. if it takes 5 years to negotiate a new contract....that is potentially SEVEN years of NO pay raises for us! That is a HUGE amount of money over that time frame!
the long and short is that if Fedex wants their FDA's....they can have them when they give us a FULL conrtact over a normal term. I think that our ALPA negotaitors should have all options on the table when they bargian with the proffesional labor lawyers that Fedex is paying millions of dollars-

This thing will pass overwhelmingly. Voted NO on day 1. I wish voting early counted twice!
Our crew force deserves the manure sandwich we're getting. As a group we are pathetically apathetic, selfish, and ignorant. We haven't the spine to vote down anything presented to us. The concept of the MEC presenting us with the "opportunity" for an up or down vote is bogus.
I can only imagine how hard the company negotiators will laugh when this thing is voted in.

How's that 4a2b thingie working out for us? I have no problem with the concept of saving people's jobs. But make the language tight enough to make sure that our company can't take advantage of us. And, to me, they clearly did just that.
A cap, drastic reduction in carryover, very limited draft and volunteer (or none) are some things that just kinda make sense. And stating that we can't fix it because it's in an unopened section of the contract is a copout. Ignore the regulatory stuff and fix 4a2b before we give the big stick away.
I voted no.
