Stop listening to the union vote no.
I voted No for a number of reasons. First our suppossed union guys increased their pay and benefits and didn't bother to mention that to us, which makes their sales pitch questionable at best. Second we have the most liberal labor relations board in the last 10 years, so lets negotiate. I'm sick of hearing we are getting ASAP and FDA improvements. We are the only Major airline with out a FOQA/ASAP program and have the worst safety record these programs are coming anyway. The company can improve the FDA deal without the TA and I believe this was coming too, plus it is leverage for contract negotiations, because it is something the company wants. Third no fix to 4a2b, I don't want to go through this again, I know it didn't affect union pay so maybe it's not important to you if it didn't cost you a dollar. Fourth we are allowing the company to schedule deadheads on trains. Sure I know it is limited to set routes, but once again we give them a cost saving and efficiency improvement tool for free. How about letting me roll over my travel bank or including the cost of ground transpo in pairings so when I deviate I don't have to pay for that out of pocket. Right now the company can't do this we are opening a door which I am sure will expand and be used to reduce travel banks, decrease rest periods and result in more work for us for the same pay. Give me something, I realize the union guys obviously have a different job than the rest of us, but I wish they would remember they are suppossed to take care of the line crewmembers. Fifth we are setting a new precedent of not negotiating anytime the company has some variable it can't figure out. Maybe next time it will be some foreign trade legislation or the price of oil. We are allowing the company to change or renegotiate only the areas they want too. In other words we empower the company to set the terms for a measley 3%. When was the last time the company was so eager and ready to give you a pay raise and good deal. If you are stupid enough to believe this is a good deal you obviously didn't read it. Call the union and ask them about their telecommuting, ability to go non-current and in general not be around and be paid more. Hey fellas if you aren't around and aren't in touch with your constituents you will fail.

This is worth repeating!

Quote: How's that 4a2b thingie working out for us? I have no problem with the concept of saving people's jobs. But make the language tight enough to make sure that our company can't take advantage of us. And, to me, they clearly did just that.

A cap, drastic reduction in carryover, very limited draft and volunteer (or none) are some things that just kinda make sense. And stating that we can't fix it because it's in an unopened section of the contract is a copout. Ignore the regulatory stuff and fix 4a2b before we give the big stick away.

I voted no.
No kidding. It's interesting that we couldn't negotiate many areas of interest to the line pilots (4.A.2.b., accepted fares, min pay per reserve day, etc) but we could make sure that the union officers are being well taken care of. Let's make sure we get that section taken care of!

I can't believe that anyone would entertain signing an agreement that doesn't address 4.A.2.b. The settlement is garbage. It really doesn't do anything to prevent the company from entering and exiting at will. Ridiculous...

Guess my Reading for Marines MCI wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Where in the TA did you find this?

I voted no. Just don't think we got anything from this TA. Of course if I was on the MEC I would be all for it. To bad the rank and file didn't get the same kind of raise that they did.

Reading comprehension was not an easy class in school for many. There are no changes to "MEC" (which is not the correct term anyway) or "MEC Officer" pay, ask any of the block reps, even ask both no voters on the MEC, they will give you the same answer.

The MEC, through the policy manual, controls ALL aspects of both full time (Officers) and any other compensation programs for other jobs. The section 18 was amended for other reasons, according to a P2p friend who was briefed. So ask anyone with a P2p lanyard as well and they can explain it or get the official answer as well.
