Default IPA Must Keep Moving Forward: BT Must Resign

Unity Is Being United Against A Common Enemy, Not United Behind A Common Fool

There was a historic movement happening at IPA. That movement is now dead. One of the president’s campaign promises, the main one, can never come true now. Whether this is due to an emotional knee-jerk reaction or a flat out lie he must now live with, the result for us is the same. While he did rightfully accept blame with his letter, I can only guess at how that came about. The letter does not match his persona.

BT now has zero credibility. There is a chance for him to own up to his failure, do right by everyone and step aside. Lonestar BT (our current VP) will certainly do a fine job and not burden the IPA with histrionics that harm the IPA crews and association more than help.

Under BT’s watch as president we have:
  • Failed FQS effort (destroyed leverage)
  • Furlough (and ensuing suicide)
  • Terminations (Hostages)
  • Personal Bankruptcies and Divorces
  • Labor emboldened to attack the IPA and our contract ever more outrageously
  • From the IPA Constitution:
    • (6) Improperly disclosing confidential matter of the Association.
    • (9) Acting in a manner contrary to the best interests of the Association or its members.
There is a chance to end the constant misstatements, errant predictions, and harm to the association. A true leader cannot be this errant and not harm the pilot group. Unity is being united against a common enemy, not united behind a common fool. The time to act is now. The IPA can recover. BT, do the right thing and hand the reins over to our VP. It will be your most effective and heroic act as president!

The President’s Growing List of Unreliable “Opinions”
  1. UPS can't furlough, but if they do we can pay furloughees a stipend + cobra. (campaign website)
  2. An MEF injunction will happen the first hour of flying they do with anyone on the street.
  3. They will only furlough enough to get the RIF.
  4. Don’t bother to look for a job. It won’t last any longer than six months.
  5. The system is at its breaking point.
  6. You will be recalled the first week in December.
  7. We will have an FAA ruling soon.
  8. We can’t talk about it, but we have a plan.
  9. We have obtained the number of FQS cards necessary to file the accretion application with the NMB.

I disagree 3 sides. You seem to be a vocal minority, why don't you post this on our own website? Suicide? That is pretty low even for you. Move it over to the BnG and we can debate it further, or stay here, hide and keep casting your pebbles.

TD, what points do you disagree with? All the events and statements 3S listed happened under BT reign.

I've been asking for a week on APC what positive things has BT done for the IPA since he took office. All the Thrush+ittes can counter with are personal attacks, false statements and the old standby you don't support the IPA.

I support the IPA 100%, that does not mean I have to support or blindly follow and inept leader.

I'm curious as to what part is "low." Did he mischaracterize the incident (i.e. it wasn't suicide) or is recognizing the suicide the "low" part? This is the first time I've had my suspicions (based soley on IPNN's sufficiently vague commentary of the death) somewhat confirmed. Thanks.

How is it his fault that the M's did not send in the cards? I would like to see us continue on w/ a court decision of class & craft
  • Furlough (and ensuing suicide)
    Not his fault
  • Terminations (Hostages)
not his fault - from the "stories" i hear one, who prob. will not get his job back, was way out of line & 2 was foolish and prob. will
  • Personal Bankruptcies and Divorces
we can blame myriad factors on these
  • Labor emboldened to attack the IPA and our contract ever more outrageously
Ups has always done this. they are mad because he is trying to defend what we have.
  • From the IPA Constitution:
    • (6) Improperly disclosing confidential matter of the Association. Not disagreeing, but what exactly are you speaking of?
    • (9) Acting in a manner contrary to the best interests of the Association or its members.
    Opinion?

All good reasons not to re-elect him, but not to call for his head.

1. Too early to say the FQS drive has failed IMHO. The card drive is over but I think there is more to this issue.
2. Last I checked, BT didn't furlough anyone, UPS did. He is working to get those jobs back.
3. Happens every negotiation cycle and BT didn't fire them, UPS did. I bet he is active in getting those jobs back though.
4. BT didn't call any loans due that I am aware of.
5 and 6. Purely subjective claims based on bias.

On step, maybe no one responds to you because they realize no matter what you are told you are going to hold your belief. I don't think BT is perfect, but I like a leadership that will step up and admit a mistake.

So in your mind a leader can be a walking mistake and as long as he/she admits their mistakes all is well?

IMHO the FQS "mistake" was a direct result of BT's impulsive and arogant nature. He had no business uttering a word about the vote tally until it was checked over by an attorney/accounting firm to "certify" the results. In my mind this was not a small insignificant mistake, it may have tanked the whole FQS accreation. But like all good Thrush+ittes you belive in plan F,G,H, hell maybe plan Z will succeed. "We have a plan but can't talk about it"

Wrong,
It is just my opinion that his mistakes do not justify a recall or resignation. I think it needs to play out. I think it would be a huge mistake to reshuffle the deck at this time. You can characterize me as you wish, I'm sure you believe your own plan is better.

I prefer a leadership that will learn.

threesides

Time for you to go back to your management buddies and tell them this will never happen. BT will have this job till his retirement if he wants it. We are united and it is behind him. He rocks.
