Default 777 Capt practice

one turns 65 in July 2011, another in Dec 11
JL turns 65 in Jan 2012
LT (sen #8) in Feb 2012
PG (really good guy) is 65 in June 2012

MD11?
The #1 guy on the ANC Capt bid is 65 next Feb
The #1 guy on the ANC F/O bid is 65 in 3 months.

This is why practice bids have to be taken with a grain of salt.

I had a similar situation. Was your award a secondary or primary? Don't know if that makes a difference.

Dropped the percentages into an excel spreadsheet. The percentages listed are not linear and do not line up. ie if there aweere total 400 pilots in the final percantages, 1-40 are top 10% 41-80 are top 20% etc. The final percentiles are not aligned in this linear fashion. maybe there are empty seats that they plan to fill with new hires that would make the numbers add up correctly?

Obviously something I dont understand, or some kind of memphis math.

Bid 75FM at 100% as first choice, but not awarded even though my seniority could hold it as a primary award. Still NQR.

Update: After researching the contract, looks like I may be restricted from permanent vacancy lateral award since I have been in my current seat for less than 18 months (24E1b). Darn it.

What are pros and cons of junior MD-11 vs junior Bus? Thanks for your insight.

That is correct. You must have been in your seat at least 18 months to do a lateral bid. Your name will not even show up in the practice bids. Had this happen to me when I was a bus captain and tried to move to the MD.

On the Bus you won't get launched to Dubai in the back of a 777 of an airport standby or the rest of this heinous trip. (Not mine)

Right now the 11 subs for broken 77's and Airbus's, meaning you get used all the time on reserve.

Bus's trips are kinda "72ish" when you're junior.

Does it interpret 50% to be 50-59%?
