Default THE REAL HIGHLIGHTs ABOUT FEDEX TA

The Fedex TA is the very same contract imposed by Fedex in 1999, with a few grammatic changes and minor improvements.

The signing bonus...Insuficient, yes it counts toward the 6% B-fund, but
sort of the lost of income for 2 1/2 years. Our retro is half Half of UPS's signing bonus. Bomber..

Payscales....... Less than UPS the first year for wca, except the year 15.
Narrow body capt, under paid...

3.75 duty rig..... Not until jan. 2008.UPS already has it.

Agency shop..... Needed to make free loaders pay their share, but in a controversial letter of agreement hidden on section 29, under Security and Check off... non members get grandfather..but ALPA gets income security.I wonder how much this cost us, because surely it was not free.

B fund up only 1 %... Gentleman, the B fund is money excepted from
Union fees, as well as Per Diem.Wonder why per diem
increased only 5 cents.

Retirees medical plan... This is like 10 pages long, I wonder who is retiring soon on the Negotiating Comitee.

Once we get the 3.75 to 1 duty rig and the pay raise combined, Widebody captains will make good money flying international, but the Narrow body captains, specially the b757, will be underpaid.

SO, please don't call this an industry Standard contract, this is the old contract with lipstick and Agency Shop, but not better than UPS 12 % B FUND AND same payscales for all captains.

No one is calling it industry Standard. According to all the press I have seen they say it "Industry Leading" Industry Leading because we are now grouped with all the passenger carriers! Before we didn't deserve to serve them coffee because we were only "Cargo Pilots" now we are their lucky bretheren. As far as I'm concerned this contract is SUBstandard considering the profits of our employer

Thanks for saving me the time to read your entire post. This sentence makes it obvious you haven't a clue about that of which you speak.

MAch84, this pretty much our offer from Oct '05. Why did you not have anything to say about it in the last 11 months?

...you mean widebody pay was grossly underpaid and is now being addressed, to bring us widebody guys close to what we should be making. You must be a 27 driver...also, what b757?

The agency shop thing irritates me. Perhaps now would be the time to quit the union, since if it happens before the signing date, I would be exempt from the requirement to pay a maintenence fee? Bet I am not the only one thinking that. Go ahead and ridicule that line of thought, then when your done, put your lanyard on and recite your union provided mantras that mean about as much as a steamy turd in the real world. This TA is sub-standard in many ways. There is a reason that there is a rush to pass this thing by peak.

You know, that line "this is basically the same thing as Oct05" is wearing a little thin. You should go look at the Oct05 positions you keep referencing, I did. They are not "basically the same" unless you lump both apples and oranges fruit and say they're "basically the same". Oct05 - MPPD, Retro Pay, 8% immediate raise followed by 4% from then on. Lots of other differences, but, heck, it's basically the same.... I'm not trying to be snotty about this, but they are in fact a good bit different from our absolutely, positively reasonable openers.

The reason for the grandfather clause is there are legal ramifications to threaten to fire people that didn't have to pay before. The time to quit has already passed. The Letter says before Aug 26th not signing. I don't understand why you want to quit over that. Doesn't that make you just the reason you are mad in the first place?
