Road show high lights
Not to tease, but I don't have the time to go into too much detail. did attended the first half of the (old) Adam's Mart road show (location in MEM today at 1300). Saw the power point, couldn't stay for extended T&A.
High Lights (as many as I can remember) in the opinion of Capt C.
Scope.
Much improved, agreement with FDX corp, poison pills removed. Charters incl in scope. Others things can't recall.
Pay
Is what it is
Scheduling
Big improvement and "hidden money", too complex to detail, rest provisions improved, fatigue "decriminalized" (their words) Fatigue not taken from sick account.
Rig improvement plus 8 hrs pay premium considered "hidden money".
Ins
Considered big improvement, all codified in contract, unlike current.
i didn't take notes so its starting to peter out the less interesting details.
For those who like the "big numbers" Deal cost-ed out in 06 dollars worth 850 million in improvements over length of contract. Possibly closer to 1 billion depending how you cost some improvements

Wish I could have made it.............They need to schedule times where Hubturning folks can make it.

One important point the NC Chair made was that if they hadn't "pulled the trigger" when they did there were no more meetings scheduled and the Mediator was going to do to us what they did to UPS last year....send us home for 6 months. Meaning no self-help and we work through peak again.

If you are over 53 you will get a non-taxable $25,000 interest bearing account which you can use for health care. Real cash which you will get a debit card to use for health care upon reaching age 59 or it will pass to the spouse if the pilot dies before then. It's called a Health Reimbursement Account. Sec. 27
The pilots that retired after 05/31/04 get the signing bonus deposited into their HRA.
First time that a contract has reached back to the retirees.
Before the young guys (me) whine it's not fair, this is in the contract now and is institutionalized for future contracts. Since most of us plan on retiring, the retiree health care will affect us just like the A plan and B plan. We don't think we'll ever need to go to the doctor right now, but it happens and will happen to most.
Lifetime limit on health care expense goes from $1M to $3M. Health insurance improvements also reach back to already retired pilots.
FDX ran a cold start on the computer with the 1:3.75 trip rig and 13 hour spread. AVG BLG increased 3:45. AVG days off increased 1.5
Intent of the 13 hour spread (high to low) is to keep from having to add the stray trips to pure week-on week-off lines. Right now, according to the way it was explained today, those type lines often have to be increased to keep them within the 8.5 hours of the larger, longer international trips which can't be reduced any further.
Life insurance from the company goes from $100,000 to $800,000. Can opt down to $300,000 to reduce taxes (Excess life line item on W-2). Can also purchase an additional $1M without a physical exam when plan initially kicks in.
