FedEx Poolie Call

In an attempt to gather information for both poolies and future poolies, I am going to start a thread that is identical to the one on flightinfo. Information has slowed to a trickle over there, so I hope there are folks on this site who have information to share regarding meet-n-greets, interview dates, class dates, etc that may be of interest to others.

130JDrvr 09-12-2006 11:20 PM

JDriver,

Hopefully you'll move up quickly. This week long layover in SFS is killing me! Come join the fun!

Past...

fecav8r 09-13-2006 12:34 AM

Hey are you guys twins

Did you two get together and come up with those names all by yourself or did you get some help....

JDriver 09-13-2006 03:19 AM

Sept 11 class only had 14 newhires? Looks like 20 in the 25 Sept class.

JDriver 09-13-2006 03:21 AM

Twins? No. Work together to create name? No. Coincidence? Yes.

Sometimes great minds think alike.

Normy! 09-13-2006 03:51 AM

Well, "meet -n- greet" in February 2005, interviewed April 19,20 this year, received pool letter May 30th.

-Currently doing the backstroke, but I'm going to try the butterfly next.

N!

PS: Is there a forum somewhere that discusses pool time other than this place?

130JDrvr 09-13-2006 04:59 AM

Couldn't get my other name to work so had to come up with something else....

JDriver is pretty smart and my mind is numb from all this fun on the road..

Past.....

lawless1 09-13-2006 06:59 AM

Did the interview March 17-18, pool letter in late April. Spoke with hiring about two weeks ago while updating drug test. They told me that they have drained the pool through the end of Feb interviews and I can expect to start class in mid to late October. I will post as soon as I get the call and update with any info I can gather.

aseweepay 09-13-2006 07:27 AM

Did the M&G at the end of April 06....I was told the pool will be drained
in next few months and interviews will start again in Jan 07 ...someone
on another message board said that they are still interviewing in small
numbers people that have military backgrounds...not sure if this is true and
not trying to start a rumor, just passing along what I was told...

Albief15 09-13-2006 08:20 AM

No--its pure BS.

The 5/11 Sept interview groups had mix of backgrounds, including a few guys who were on their 2nd try at Fedex. I know of seveal 100% civ background types in those groups.

So where is the JD River and do you need 130JD RVR to land there? :p

Myboyblue 09-13-2006 10:17 AM

A second interview?

jeez, it takes an act of God to get the first one. I wonder how long they had to wait to get the 2nd interview.

Albief15 09-13-2006 11:14 AM

14-18 months in one case. Solid guy--must have a good sponsor.

Another sim bust from 24 months back or so got his second shot at about 18 months after original shot and made it.

I think MGT knows its a tough interview, and no screening process is perfect. Also--if you aren't a bit nervous (in today's environment anyway...) when interviewing I don't think you are human. Sometimes nerves can trip up even the best of guys and gals.

I don't know it for fact, but I'm sure these 2nd try folks had some good sponsors who burned some serious green stamps to get them another shot.

Grease,
Had to read that one twice! Another Ground Hog Day is turning the brain to mush! It's hot, it's rainy, it's hot, it's rainy, the golf course is a goat ranch but DAM the beer is cheap!!!

Past....

P.S. JDriver, Another fun day at the office? :)

DiamondZ 09-13-2006 03:43 PM

11/12 Apr....

2 guys went WB and 3 still remain in the pool....

Have not heard anything since July, to update med and drug test.

Patiently waiting.

veez737 09-13-2006 03:51 PM

Thanks alot for the info JDriver.

JDriver 09-13-2006 05:13 PM

Past,
I feel like the new AF motto should be: "No good deed goes unpunished"

New core values:
1. Situational Integrity
2. Service yourself
3. Excellence in all we do in front of others

I guess career enhancement can only be a good thing as long as someone else benefits from your move.

Now back to the thread: Flew with a May poolie today - He updated info with FDX as was told to expect DEC.

fecav8r 09-13-2006 06:44 PM

Roomy, these guys obviously don't have the stroke with management that you do.....

130JDrvr 09-13-2006 07:18 PM

It's not who you know but who knows you! :)

I'm ready for a cold one!

Was that guy a May interview or a May poolie letter? I'm a May 31 interview so I'm guessing Jan for class date.

JDriver 09-14-2006 03:36 AM

May interview!

If the info that has been posted is somewhat close, it is possible. Assuming that all Feb guys are drying off.

Approx 45 March poolies
Approx 32 April poolies
Approx 24 May
Approx 4 June
___________________
Approx 105 total

If there are 5 classes left this year with an average of 22 per class, that should accomodate 110 folks.

The above numbers include the 24 folks who have been called out for WB training. I left them in to cover any possible missing poolies out there.

If you take out the 24 who have been called out, that leaves approx 81. 4 classes of 16 and one class of 17 should cover them.

If anyone else sees it differenly please chime in.

135Driver 09-14-2006 07:03 AM

April Poolie.

Here's my 2 cents. Interviewed April 12/13, Poolie letter May 5th. Updated drug test in July. Now I'm just waiting. Thanks to everyone for the info posted.

veez737 09-14-2006 07:09 AM

Do they call you to get a new drug test? Where do you have to go to get the new drug test done? I interviewed May 3rd, Poolie letter second week of June and nada since. Thanks

DiamondZ 09-14-2006 07:35 AM

Veez,

They called and said that the test needed to be taken within 2 or 3 business days. They overnite the required docs for the test and provide a list of places around the country where the test can be taken.

JDriver 09-16-2006 01:52 AM

Anyone know how long it takes after you are brought onto the property for your benefits (ie. health ins.) to kick in?

JC Dude 09-16-2006 02:27 AM

Insurance

Health insurance starts immediately.

dckozak 09-16-2006 05:43 AM

If you have trouble sleeping, request a copy of the FedEx TA.

KnightFlyer 09-23-2006 10:26 AM

I talked to one of our Flexes that works with the BI/New Hire program. He says the plan is to try to bring on 150 by the end of Dec, approx 50/month. For example, in Nov he said there are 30 727 FO and 20 727 SO slots.

MightyHuron 09-24-2006 10:46 AM

Is the purple nugget program still alive and well, or not? Also, does it look like most brought out of the pool will be going to the Boeing (727) as previous post implies?

Holding my breath at the bottom of the pool...

130JDrvr 09-24-2006 11:49 AM

I think all the new hire MD11 slots in anc are filled. Just mem 727 FO/SO positions.

Past..

JDriver 09-26-2006 07:40 AM

Anyone getting calls for Oct/Nov yet? If so, when did you interview?

lawless1 09-27-2006 11:15 AM

Got the call this morning for 23 Oct class date. I interviewed Mar 15/16. A guy I kept in touch with from my interview class also was called today for the same class date. The FedEx rep said there will be 9 727 FOs and 16 727 SOs in the class. Hope this helps all with the timeline. Good luck!:D

Coast

JDriver 09-27-2006 03:13 PM

Lawless,

How many folks from your group interviewed on 15/16 Mar? Did they all make it into the pool?

JDriver 09-28-2006 03:25 AM

Combined with info from flightinfo, it appears that the last class in october is full. As soon as someone gets a call for a November class date, please ask how many folks would be in the class. If KnightFlyer's post is correct, that should empty the pool.

JDriver...

130JDrvr 09-28-2006 05:11 AM

J, Don't you have work you need to do? Oh, that's right you don't have to play their game anyomore! :)

lawless1 09-28-2006 05:31 AM

We had an even dozen interview. They did the standard split and we had 6 man groups. All made it through the sim and everyone I kept in contact with (the 6 in my group) got the job. I don't know about the other five. All the guys I kept in contact with are already on property or are in class for October 23. When I get to Memphis, I will post as much info as I can garner regarding training dates and class sizes. Once again, good luck. The pool is getting shallow enough you should be able to stand in it.

Cheers

JDriver 09-28-2006 05:36 AM

Past,
The funny thing is that my supervisor is watching me write this post. Inquiring minds want to know.

This is the last week of the fiscal year. Ran out of flying hours. You can imagine the rest.

Lawless - thanks for the info.
