How do you get in at CKS? I've applied to no less then 10 jobs over the past year in operations (flight follower thru doing revisions) and still nothing. Would really like to DX/FF for them while I continue to build up my hours. Live only 40 minutes from YIP, went to EMU for a while (so I know the area), have 121 supplemental dispatch experience, and have some knowledge of jetplan (I think that is the program Connie uses). I don't know what else I can do to be considered.
I know this is a pilot forum but can anyone give me advice/information as well?

Typically, you find a guy that is weak and or not studying like he should and when it surfaces, they blame the training dept. Kalitta is pretty good and patient with guys in training. If you fail, it is usually you. The B747 is not an entry level airplane. They expect you to know how to fly when you get here. It is the "Fire Hose" method, like any other airline training program. If you cant get it, move over, there is someone waiting that can!

Literally hundreds of people have been through the training with an extremely low wash-out rate. Sometimes it's simply a matter of being more than a person can handle, be it the lack of initiative, comprehension, and or flying skill.

Another time and place had the Feds all over the training department. Things went from "Have a good attitude, and we'll get you through, even if you need a couple extra sessions" to "Don't fall behind even a half a session, or you're a wash out. We can't do any extra training." Just in the course of a month. I'm sure it was not the instructors making that call, but outside pressures were being applied. People got dinged up who might well have made it through at another time or place.
I have no knowledge of the situation in YIP, I've never even been there, and I'm absolutely NOT saying this kind of thing is happening there now or has ever happened there. Only that it is a fair question to ask, because it does happen, from time to time.

CKS laid off some FFers in the last 2 years. I do some outside work in the dispatch in field and I think CKS uses NAVTECH not Jetplan, but I could be wrong. Why dont you try driving the 40 mins to YIP and walking in if thats the place you want to work. Your not gonna find much about dispatch on these boards.
