With some of the majors and high paying cargos hiring again maybe the corporate strategy of "Just be happy to have a job" will finally go away.
I've got an idea...don't apply if it doesn't suit your lifestyle.

That is one less person the guys that are interested in Atlas have to compete against.

There are plenty of guys here that are perfectly happy at their (our) lot in life...I don't make any apologies for flying at Atlas.

As I have said on the other thread, there are certainly better places (like FDX, UPA, and possibly SWA), but there are most definitely worse.

That's good to hear that Atlas doesn't require an internal rec. It seems that a lot of airlines are needing that internal rec/sponsor to even get a call - that's what I meant by "1st filter".

I totally understand, and agree, that once you start the interview process it should be on your shoulders to prove you have what it takes...it's just frustrating waiting around for that first call to come.

I'm starting to run into that "loss of recency of flight" issue. It's been 6 months while I've been waiting for a call. Any recommendations on what I can do to keep some hours building to stay "recent"??

Thanks

How much do you make while in training for the 8 weeks in MIA? Can you go home on the weekends? Do they pay all your expenses while there? Do FOs get typed during that time?

So that would mean you are not paid the guarentee.

Any Atlas folk want to give a guess as to how many have been hired so far this year?

No... while in training you are on training pay.. at least for the first 60 days, then you go on guarantee... which is 50 hours for 1st year crew members

You are on training pay until you start OE or do an observation ride. There is no fixed time. The company provides the hotel in MIA.

I joined United early 2000 flew the B757/767, been furloughed twice. Got loads of international time. I applied to Atlas at least 12 times. I never heard anything even with recommendations.

Oh I flew 95hrs every month at United and the most I ever made in a year was $74k. So if they start to hire I expect they will have a lot quitting to go to other places just like in 2007. But with 1437 of us out on the streets and no hope of a return date yet, it'll be a while.
