FDX ALPA Request to delay CGN Bid

In my dealings with the company ACPs they have bent over backwards to help out in situations at home. A little honesty and a phone call goes a long way. I've been let off trips due to inbound hurricanes, family emergencies etc... Now, for the hypothetical case of the single guy commuting back for a slice, the company needs to keep their nose out of his business. There are too many situations to paint with such a wide brush stroke. However we all know we have our "gamers" out there.

I was wondering the same thing. This is essentially paying to go and work for the company in an expensive, overseas location so they can make even more money off your services. It is this mindset that allows our FDA TA's and LOA's to be so insufficient time after time.

Really? Because I voted against the FDA LOA. Don't presume to understand my mindset.

No, but I don't go to work planning to lose money either. It just seems a little crazy (to me) that someone would have that mindset while working for the best company in the world. A better idea, would be a LOA that pays tuition in full...Like every other company does that sends employees abroad.

Congrats on your FDA LOA no vote. The vote that counts is the one you make with your feet in this case. Taking a deal overseas that you admit will cost you money, while also knowing the company will make more money knowing pilots like you will take a lowball offer just to live in Europe, is exactly the mindset that allows them to keep future offers low. If your willing to take a pay loss just to live overseas, for all I know you voted against the LOA because you wanted it to go even more junior so you could be assured of holding it at a higher seniority. Remember, DW told us all not to bid a plane without a pay rate and work rules, just before he did it himself, so it wouldn't be the first time. Anyway, I think your mindset is pretty easy to read here, but your right, I will never understand it. Good luck in CGN..
