FDX ALPA Request to delay CGN Bid
#11
You're right, not that bad of a delay. First brush on the request and I was thinking this was going to be a drawn out waiting period until the dust settles from the "agreement". I still doubt anyone that was planning on bidding CGN will change their bid as a result. But I guess forewarned is forearmed.

And yet, they moved to location and are flying the trips. And they are under investigation??? *** Orlando? Are they not making the deadheads? Missing the trips? Cmon man? You made a lousy LOA, and we're trying to make the best of it. Cover your men, it's your job!!!!

Are you actually suggesting that just because guys are doing the job that they're paid to do, in a location that they chose, with an LOA that had specific requirements, that they then have the right to perhaps cheat or steal from the company? If that's your viewpoint, how would you feel about someone who: never misses his trips; passes all his training events; always gives 100%, but buys deadhead tickets on his personal credit card, then submits for reimbursement, all the while jumpseating into and out of his operating assignments, and pocketing the company money. Is that ok with you? As well, is that what you think the chief pilot should be doing... protecting guys who are doing it the wrong way, and ruining things for everyone else along the way. Very interesting.

No, I didn't say that. How dare you imply that I condone such nefarious activity! Have you been disciplined for this in the past? Sounds like a different situation altogether...

There are many shades of grey in this. Unfortunately, as usual, the company is shooting with a scatter gun and seeing if anyone catching some of the fire has the stones to stand up to them.
There's the guy who takes the full move package, moves his wife and family over there (supposedly) and somehow his kids end up enrolled in a northwestern state's public school. That seems more black and less grey.
On the other hand, there's the single guy who moves there, gets a place but chooses to spend his days off in the USA with his squeeze. Last I checked, what we do on our days off isn't the business of anyone at Fedex. They can't make a pilot stay in Hong Kong when he's not working. It may look like he's commuting but as long as he makes his trips, I can't see what they can do about it.

Still, not quite sure how you get that argument from a person renting a place in HKG, and deciding that said place is their legal residence.
