Default SA Cat II

What exactly does "SA Cat II approaches require the greater of the calculated RVR less than 4,000' landing distance or 6,000'" Mean?

I'll caveat this with......... I think.....

When calculating landing distance using the PAT or PERF module in the EFB, with low vis you select the runway condition "RVR less than 4000".

The resulting distance calculated is the "calculated RVR less than 4,000 landing distance".

So, the runway has to be long enough to provide this landing distance. If the landing distance calculated is less than 6000 feet, you still need 6000 feet of landing distance.

Thanks to MrSuupaly for correcting my last comment. I deleted the stupid part of my post.

6.27 PERFORMANCE
SOFTWARE LANDING
PERFORMANCE
CALCULATIONS
Landing data provided by the performance
software assumes that the touchdown
point occurs 1500 FT beyond the
runway threshold. For example, a total
landing distance of 6000 FT (provided
from the performance software In-flight
Landing Performance module) assumes
that the first 1500 FT of the runway will be
overflown and the actual rollout distance
on the runway surface will be 4500 FT.

Oh yea, another obscure approach category minimum we can try to dig out of the FOM in the dark at 3:30 in the morning.

I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who couldn't decipher this encrypted FCIF.

After several email exchanges with the author of the FCIF, Alderdriver's explanation is spot on.
