I have plenty of MD11 time and no call yet. Interviewed there over 10 years ago, maybe thats why.

FWIW...a recent interview class had- 2 guys with heavy intl time, no sponsors, not offered the job and 3 guys with either "just" RJ or pointy nose time, but with 3 letters of rec and sponsors were offered the job...class before that one had 2 pointy nose guys with sponsors and offered the job, the 4 heavy intl guys with MD-11 type ratings and no sponsors, not offered the job...jump to your own conclusions.

It's truly disheartening to say the least for those without sponsors/internal recs wanting to get on with FedEx. I guess it is who you know and not what you know in this case.

I have a question, even though I'm NOWHERE near qualified...

For the company administered medical exam, could someone who has already been through this process shed some light on what they do?

I'm especially interested to hear what they do for color vision testing. Thanks

Do NOT let not having a sponsor deter you. It has been stated several times that guys/gals without sponsors, but with competitive qualifications will get a chance. Last word I heard was that about 10% of the slots were to go to people without sponsors under the current chief pilot.

There are plenty of other possibilities why they didn't get hired. I find it hard to believe that the company would go to the effort of interviewing someone knowing they didn't have internal recommendations and then not hire them. From my understanding, after the testing, the job is yours to lose! Also, just having heavy international time, doesn't mean they are the most "in the know". All new hires would have to go through the same aircraft training and the one day international class.

I guess what I am trying to say is don't get discouraged by one partial statistic. Although we as pilots are always grasping for some conspiracy theory to justify current events.

This particular story shouldn't get you down. I would think it should encourage you. At least they're interviewing folks who have good quals even though they don't have a sponsor or recs. That's a good thing.

The fact that those without a sponsor or recs were turned down in this case is most likely a reflection on their performance in the interview. If Fedex offers you an interview, the job is yours to lose. They don't waste time or $$ interviewing folks they don't want to hire.

Wink

Don't believe everything you read here. Lots of rumors. Some have more truth in them than others.
