FedEx-vacation international trip
1st time I am dealing with this so I want to make sure I'm doing it right. From what I understand in the contract, if an international trip ends within 48 hours of a vacation, the trip is dropped and paid for by the vacation bank. Is there any restrictions for vacation ending before a trip? For example, can a vacation end on a Friday and an international trip start on Saturday. I'm thinking this is OK, but want to make sure it is OK. Thanks.

48 hours international buffer after the trip, 24 hours buffer before the trip. Just make sure that if you do not want the trip to be dropped then you need at least 24 hours off in the front end and 48 hours off in the back end.

You have a non-waiverable 24 hour buffer prior to, and a 48 hour buffer after any international trip with at least 120 TAFB. Here's the applicable sections of the CBA:
Chapter 7 G. Vacation Bank Administration
1. Regular Line Holder
A regular line holder shall be removed from a trip(s) in conflict with his vacation period (as awarded or slid) or vacation expansion. Conflict with an international duty free buffer, as described in Section 12.D.1.d., shall constitute a conflict with the trip protected by that buffer and may not be waived. The SCH value of the removed trip(s) shall be deducted from the pilot's vacation credit hour bank.
Chapter 12 D.1.d.
International Duty Free Buffer
i. A pilot shall be relieved of all duty for at least 24 consecutive hours prior to the start of an international trip scheduled to exceed 120 consecutive hours. A pilot may, however, be on reserve (during which time he performed no flying or standby duty) within 24 hours of the showtime for an international trip scheduled to exceed 120 consecutive hours.
ii. A pilot shall be relieved of all duty and reserve availability for at least 48 consecutive hours at the conclusion of an international trip that exceeds 120 hours TAFB, except for trips scheduled in accordance with Section 12.D.1.c.i. If the 48 hour buffer conflicts with an R-24 pilot’s notification window, he shall be responsible for reserve assignments placed in VIPS at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled showtime of the assignment (as described in Section 25.M.3.a.iii.(b).
iii. A pilot may waive this international buffer (i.e., D.1.d.i. or D.1.d.ii.). MY NOTE - [The 24 hr prior and 48 hr after an intl. trip buffer cannot be waived for a VACATION conflict]. A pilot is deemed to have waived any conflict with the international buffer resulting from a bid line adjustment, reassignment trip, or a volunteer or draft assignment.

old thread resurrection...
Reference "The Walrus" comment. Is vacation before an international trip >120 TAFB considered duty or not??
If my vacation ends at 1:29 lbt and I am awarded an intl trip (greater than 120 TAFB) that shows at 2:48 lbt, will it stay or go?
Also, if I conflict my vacation with a carryover trip, two questions:
Do the carryover CH's get paid in the following month out of my vacation bank?
and
When the carryover trip gets knocked out, how does that "phantom" trip effect my next month's bid award? Does it knock out trips that touch it's original footprint, etc.?
Thanks for more clarification!

Also, this only applies to trips of over 120hr TAFB, so if you have a short trip, it could be immediately after vacation.

Conflicts w/CO comes out of your vacation bank and creates a phantom footprint. In the next month, I'm pretty sure that if a new trip touches the actual vacation footprint it gets paid, but if it touches only the phantom footprint it gets dropped into your makeup bank. Check with Futures to be sure!

They only remove trips for vacation once in one bid period.
