Default Where to live in Memphis?

Any Fedex guys have recommendations on where to live around the Memphis area? And...If there's any Memphis C-5 guard guys, are you guys looking for pilots? Thanks for the info.

Go East, young man. Germantown, Collierville, Fayett County. Also known as the Poplar (Ave) corridor. Prices are going up daily so you'd better hurry.

Depends on the budget, but take a look over in the Germantown area (east of downtown), which is a bit pricier. Olive Branch, MS is also an affordable area if you're not quite at the upper pay tiers.

I agree with hfbpilot ... I wouldn't move there until you do your homework first. Are you sure you want to do this? Lots of other places to live.

If you live in a city that is served by FDX stay there and try commuting before you go to MEM, 65% of the crew force can't be wrong

IF your single, live downtown or mud Island. Even if you're married with no kids.

With Kids, get away from MEM city schools, far away.

Watch the HBO show "The Wire" for a sneak preview on how MEM schools are.

And not every one is trying to get out. As a non over 60 DC-10 engineer sitting reserve, life is good living in the planet. We'll see how it is in the 11.

veez737,

It's true, a majority of FedEx pilots live somewhere besides Mempho and commute. Each to his own. But there are plenty of us who live here and actually enjoy it. There is a lot to be said for not commuting: more time with the family and lots less stress. The best advice is to take the time to visit and spend some time exploring the city and the local area before you make the decision.
