Relo to North Carolina
Looking to move to North Carolina. Any info or suggestions welcome either here or message me. Looking at either Charlotte or Raleigh area. With commuting to Mem. Thanks

CLT is an easy one leg commute. The area has become quite popular over the past few years, because of the banking industry, and of course, NASCAR. To the north of CLT, is Mooresville. Nice area but tends to be a bit pricey because of Lake Norman. There's also Hickory and Asheville. Out east, everyone lives in either Concord or Harrisburg. Both OK, but continued growth and increases in taxes are a concern. If I had my druthers, I'd look just south of the border to South Carolina......Fort Mill in particular. Very nice area, and the school system is subsidized by Spring Industries. FWIW. GO Cocks!! (SC Gamecocks, that is.....)

Lived in Sanford for 5 years and Raleigh for 5 years... its all good. Mountains.. ( the eastern variety anyway ) to the west.....beach to the south and east....Lots of good school systems..... RDU was still an AA hub when I lived there, but I still think either area would be nice.

I'm an hour SW of RDU, and I easily commute out of RDU and GSO (1+20 north) and occasionally CLT (2+00 west). Weather is great. Small town feel. Reasonable property taxes, but state income taxes can be high. Beach is 2 hrs away, mountains at 2-3hrs away. I'm not sold on public schools in NC, though Raleigh area seem good and my niece did well in Charlotte (my daughter is in private school locally), but NC has an excellent and affordable state college system. Tons of golf, and plenty of NASCAR. Smack in the middle of ACC territority, right on the edge of SEC territory. Panthers (Charlotte) and Hurricanes (Raleigh). Plenty of minor league baseball all over the state.
