the 727 was my first jet,i sat every seat so i am totally biased, but i have a little bit of 9 time and just think Boeing engineering is superior on the turbine side of the house, from the 3 through the 7C ,Douglas ruled the roost.

In an airport lounge and bored:
Flown the 737 and 757, A310, and MD-11 (it IS a douglas, right?)
I can say systems-wise the I thought the 737 and 757 were far superior (from a pilots point of view, i.e. simpler) to anything else and also the nicest flying with the A/P off. The MD-11 was the most needlessly complicated plane I've ever flown. The old Bus was somewhere in the middle but flew just fine with the A/P off.

Completely agree Maxkts.
The MD-11 systems are FAR superior to the 737 or 757. The automation in the systems is a generation (or two) ahead and easier to interpret. The systems design (especially hydraulics and electrics) is well thought out and the redundancy is superior to anything on those other two aircraft.
Compare a V1 cut on a 757 vs. an MD-11 and you'll quickly see how much more "complicated" one is over another.

A new freighter type is about to take its first flight: At the Cargo Facts Asia event, Robert Convey, VP Sales and Marketing at AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERS Inc (AEI), reported that flight testing of the prototype AEI MD-80 converted freighter will begin in early May. He also disclosed that Alaska-based Everts Air Cargo will acquire the prototype unit (49470, ex-American Airlines) following completion of certification [FAT 000232]. In addition to Everts, AEI has firm orders for fifteen MD-80SFs from four undisclosed customers. Everts currently operates a thirteen unit freighter fleet, made up of two C-46s, eight DC-6s, one DC-9, and two EMB 120s.

It's not like I've never mispelled that name, but then somebody told me what it stood for, and I've never messed it up since then. Hopefully you take this as me 'paying it forward' and sharing knowledge, rather than a spelling police dick move... I assure you that's not the intent.
