I have heard a class of 10 in January, but they don't tell us much about their hiring plans, and they constantly change. There are a few people leaving, but not many. In the last year, I know of 2 that went to Cathay freight, and 2 that returned to UAL from furlough. I also like the long days away followed by the long period of days off. I forget I even have a job when I'm at home.

World doesn't really have a normal reserve system like other airlines. You either have a prebuilt line, open time line, or "home reserve." Open time lines and home reserves are basically the same, except OTL give you a 16 hour callout and HR 6 hours, but HR have a guarantee of 76 vs. 65 hours. You may be used none or all 18 of your OTL/HR days in a month, or anything in between. As far as block hours I have flown about 400 in the last year, with a combination of OTL and hard lines. Generally your pay is going to be either rig or guarantee. Rig is 4.8 hours of pay per 24 hours TAFB. A lot of your time away is spent on layovers. These can range from 12 to 122 hours, and are typically 24-36 hours. Hotels are typically very nice overseas, usually 4 or 5 star. Domestic hotels are pretty much the same ones every one else stays at, Holiday Inn in BGR, Doubletree at ATL airport. Overnights > 30 hours must be a downtown location.

 

Thanks for the info. With the new agreement, how many of your off days are required to be at home. I knew a while back that they could give you your off days overseas.

 

I don't know how far back you are talking about, but it must have been more than a decade ago. I have been here since 95 and days off have never been while on the road, only after getting home.

 

The short answer is 12. I've been here almost 11 years and with the exception of a temp overseas base, we have to have our days off at home.

The improvement came with those pilot who are sitting reserve. They used to be obligated to work 6 of the 12 days off. This is no longer the case with the new contract.

 

The folks that are leaving are those who are being called back to major carriers. This is despite the requirement to resign their senority number from their previous companies.

 

I haven't flown in about 2 years (been working in real estate), am I SOL? What's they recency requirement? Can anyone PM me a good email for the CP or DO?

Have they set the dates for their sim evals and interviews? If so any one been given a date?

 

They were saying interviewing in December. In the past it has been a very short notice callout for the interview and the subsequent class date.

 

When are the 747's going to start flying? I heard that they already have them, but they can not get the mod done? Any thruth to that?
BTW any one know when the sim evals are scheduled for?

 

Late 2007/earily 2008 The airframes are selected but are awaiting conversion, if you choose to believe them. I'll believe it when I see them flying.
