Default FDX - Reserve 1n7 question

Have some reserve days later in Sept. Looking at my leveling (77F), I noticed when a pilot hits his 1n7 'day', that 1n7 is carried over to every day after the 7th day that is in that same block of R days.

For example, if 12 Sept is his 7th R-day in a 10 day block, the leveling display for him will look like this:
12 Sept - 1n7 due 12 Sept
13 Sept - 1n7 due 13 Sept
14 Sept - 1n7 due 14 Sept
15 Sept - 1n7 due 15 Sept

Is that normal? It seems to be having the effect of limiting R-day moves and drops because the 'system' is showing him not available on days after his 1n7 is really due.

I think that is just they easy way for the computer code guys to write that your 1 in 7 has not been assigned as of yet. The program just looks back on the 12th and sees that you did not have a day off in the 7 days prior so you are due one. If you were assigned a day off on the 7th the 1 in 7 comment would be removed from all but the 14th and 15th.

You should be advised that ANY 24 layover (during the rolling 7 days) will be considered your 1N7.

On a different buy related subject, I always thought that the 1N7 FAR required a calendar day off, not simply a 24 hour layover (clearly FDX considers the 24 layover as meeting the regs). I've debated getting a ruling from the FAA in writing, it's a simple procedure (are you out the union lurkers?)

Sorry MM, you appear to be wrong.

FAR Sec. 121.471 — Flight time limitations and rest requirements: All flight crewmembers.

(d) Each certificate holder conducting domestic operations shall relieve each flight crewmember engaged in scheduled air transportation from all further duty for at least 24 consecutive hours during any 7 consecutive days.

or

FAR Sec. 121.481 — Flight time limitations: One or two pilot crews. (Flag Operations)

(d) No pilot may fly more than 32 hours during any seven consecutive days, and each pilot must be relieved from all duty for at least 24 consecutive hours at least once during any seven consecutive days.

As far as I can tell, while the FAA does interpret "seven consecutive days" as being calendar days, "24 consecutive hours" does not mean 1 calender day.

I thought so too but but have since been corrected by scheduling. You need a minimum of 25:30 duty free period to have a 1 in 7 on a layover. ( 60 minutes prior and 30 minutes after).
