I have always been 100% happy with the way the fedex schedulers have interacted with me.

Huge contrast with the minions of Satan at ASA.

Why all the angst over a scheduler saying he would trade jobs with one of us? Would one of you trade your job for his? I certainly wouldn't.

Good grief!

Hey 9ESOCCFI...Are you a futures scheduler?

I always thought it was the "planners" who built VTO lines and the "schedulers" who assigned trips to RSV, VLT, etc. and processed trip trades. Two different groups of people?

Clutch, you are correct. I am a domicile scheduler, who would put trips on RSV pilots and get them notified. If returning from a rsv trip you would call me to be released. If you need to deviate or check in that would be me too. The planning department has "schedulers" as well, but they only build lines and work in the future. As a domicile scheduler we are not allowed to touch the next bid month until the Thrusday evening prior to the start of the bid period.

9ESOCCFI,

Can you answer me this? Is it possible for the "Planners" to be bribed by some? The reason I ask is we had one guy on the Bus who ALWAYS got great VTO lines despite not being that senior. Senior guys above him (myself included early on), rarely got the quality of lines he received. I stopped bidding VTO and he just recently went to the Tool Box, so no longer a factor. Just a bit curious...

Just to clarify, the scheduler that asked me about the deviation bank rumor was professional, helpful and cooperative. We chatted for a while and I tried to set him straight.

There is a guy on the tool box that seems to get the best trips and better schedules.

With the exception of one all the schedulers I have had dealings with have been good but also I try to be nice to them. Novel concept I know!

I guess you believe "you are doing poorly, because someone else is doing well." This is the kind of attitude and thinking that will destroy this company and this country.
Actually, you are the one that's got a screwed up attitude. All he said was he would be happy to swap jobs. Not a word about pay. I know people at all levels of Fedex and I don't think any one of them below the level of say Paul Cassle, who wouldn't gladly assume the job of Fedex pilot. Lost in all the moaning and beatching on this board is the fact that flying for Fedex is a freakin great job. Anyone in a 9-5, 5 days a week job would love to have it. I know I sure wouldn't trade for the 4 on, 4 off, 12 hour days a scheduler does.

Having never worked in the planning department I can only speculate along with everyone else, so here goes. I don't believe bribe is the correct word. When someone works in one position for so long and speaks to the same folks over and over again, friendships can form. It may be that the planner and the pilot in question became work friends and as friends you help each other out when possible. In no way am I saying this is what happened, but it kind of makes sense.
