Default FDX discount personal travel

Just read the latest missive from the office of the CP. Looks like our SWA travel benefits are being restated. In a nutshell, travel will cost $35 OT $70 RT plus $24 ticketing fees. Also will have to take an online test (est time 1 hour) to be able to use any interline travel benefit.

My question to FedEx types. Are you using any interline travel benefit currently and if not why not?

To non FedEx types. What does your benefits within the industry look like, aka in particular SWA and do you pay your company a fee related to issuing personal; travel tickets/vouchers?

I've never though we got a very good deal from the industry vs what we give in return. Most Pax carriers have some sort of ZED fares with travel off line and even better with their own. Our SWA deal, as I read it, looks to be a poor deal considering the costs, issuing$$, and the fact it is SA.

I'm not taking an hour test to ride SA on Southwest for $94. What a bunch of BS. Pilots weren't the ones who caused this to stop anyhow, why we have to take a test is beyond me. More love (one person messes their pants, everyone gets diapers) from Flt Ops!!

I got the impression the rules are for all fdx employees and to use the travel bennies on any arline through corporate travel you must take the test. 100 bucks round trip sound reasonable to me. It probably just covers the fees they pay. Personally I dont travel anywhere space A. But it is nice to know it is there if I want it.

Looked a little deeper and found that the cert test must be renewed every 6 months This benefit is a joke. I think it would be better to pull it totally, drop providing any benefit to the pax industry and wait see the reaction from that.
It was never a very good benefit and now its an insulting one.

It is not for us, we are millionaires (just ask the guys the PAC backs) who dont pay our fair share of anything. It is for the rampers. It is probably a good recruitment tool particularly since the corporate jumpseats went away.

Haz, the way I read it, pilots and Air Ops people are not required to take the test.

This day in age standby travel is not worth it, especially for us, since we're not employees of the airline we're trying to fly on. Never have used this system at FedEx. Never have used family tickets from my brother's airline.

Hopefully, you're right. But this is what I read...."All FedEx employees who wish to use their discount travel privilege on Southwest or any other eligible airline will be required to have successfully completed a new, online Personal Travel Certification Test.

Hello again, Haz. Go to the FAQ link on the announcement and it'll address your concerns.
Cheers!
