UPS job offer?
Would like to get some input from any UPS pilots or poolies out there. Had my UPS interview recently and HR portion went very well, however my SIM ride was not that great. Several corrections had to be made. Does anyone know what are the standards they are looking for and has anyone got an acceptance letter with a so-so SIM ride. Even though I acknowledged and corrected my mistakes, im worried that I might have lost my shot. Thanks.

Remember, the way you flew in the sim deteriorates with each passing day. Corrections always have to be made, but the key to a sim ride is actually making those corrections! As long as you appear to have a fairly decent scan, a good attitude in the sim, and the evaluator thinks you are trainable with just a little effort, I think that is enough. Don't beat yourself up..

sim ride
Embplt...
Long ago, I thought I had tubed the ride...20 kts fast all the way down the ILS, never got 1000fpm up or down on the vertical s1...but I was trying the whole time and making good corrections...it's not how you do, it's how you try and make it work...

Literally 3 seconds into my sim ride I stalled the aircraft and crashed. I rotated too quicky into the stick shaker and the sim froze. The guy gives me 15 seconds of advice on how this is a modern jet and not the decrepid old KC-135. From that point on I flew without incident and was hired a week later.

I know what you are going through. I felt my HR part went very well, and I was all ready for the sim. Or so I thought. After takeoff, I focused so much on trying to get V2 + 10 per the profile, I used that speed all the way up to 4000', and only then started to clean up the flaps. I guess it was a modified alternate noise abatement departure! Now, I did intercept the DP as charted and kept flying the a/c, but at that point I thought that I blew my chance at this job. At that moment, though, I told myself not to give up and keep flying as good as I could. Everything else went well. Walking back out to the reception area with the interviewer, he kept saying how well I did, what a/c did I get my TPIC in, what I was flying now, etc. I thought he was just doing the standard spiel in an interview. As I stood outside waiting for my taxi, I kept cursing myself for blowing a golden opportunity. 4 weeks later, I hit the jackpot by getting my pool letter. Don't beat yourself up anymore. As you can see, we all made mistakes to one degree or another, and all got hired. Keep those spirits up and good luck to you!
