On a slightly different perspective ... every pilot that stays as an MD-11 Capt.past age 60 affects my monthly bid (EVERY MONTH) and my vacation (EVERY VACATION!). So basically, it affects me EVERY DAY AND EVERY TRIP!*? ... and I make less money.
Aside from that it didn't affect me at all

At the risk of being flamed, anyone who has anyone senior to them could say essentially the same thing. "Every single pilot senior to me who doesn't retire or resign to go sell cars affects MY schedule, MY vacation, etc., etc." How selfish, self-centered, and yes, egocentric.
No one has any duty to retire at any particular time or age. There are numerous reasons a person might want to play out this wonderful hand of cards. Some need the money, some can't afford health insurance as a retiree, and some even still enjoy the job and just want to keep doing what they love. Heaven forbid they interfere with YOUR plans. Shame on you.

I was pretty pi$$ed Seal and Richard Gere were banging my chicks for a while too... Claudia should have waited for me, ditto Cindy Crawford.
Seriously, I might not have started my business if I hadn't been stuck on the panel 2.5 years. We got a 777 FO doing some good work as an aviation attorney as well. Embrace where you are and find a niche. Or...go around bitter. I have learned what I often am most upset about leads to better things in the end. Like excess bids...and substandard LOAs.....
