FDX FxBidLite - bid on your company iPad!
FedEx
You can now bid on your company iPad!.
Fx Bid Lite is at the App Store now.
It is free to download and currently free to use.
It is the bidding portion of FxCal.
It is only a bidding app.
It meets even the strictest interpretation of the FOM section that describes gray areas that might cause an app to hit the blacklist.
If you have Fx Cal on you personal iPad, you do not need Fx Bid Lite.
(Although if your personal iPad is a mini, you might like the retina display for bidding.)
If you have Fx Cal on your iPhone, run Fx Bid Lite on your company iPad.
You do not need Fx Cal on any device to use Fx Bid Lite to bid.
Again, it is free to download and currently free to use.
Fx Cal and Fx Bid Lite - next generation bidding software.
It has many of the features you are accustomed to in prior bidding software.
It also has new and powerful tools.
Intuitive deadhead display of the pairings to include double duty deadheads, those jewels in the 777 and MD11 bid pack.
No color coding to learn or apply as you look for deadheads.
Pick five information fields of your choice for display on each line without needing a popup.
Note taking on trips and pairs - no paper and pencil needed to work your bid.
The same trip synopsis you are familiar with in FxCal Open Time.
See out and back cities on the line without touching for a popup.
Large touch area for out and backs and small trips.
When zooming to not see carryout, you still see the number of carryout days.
Outstanding tools for manually arranging and scrolling in a large bidpack.
Vacation, days off, awards, all with many features.
Block over 8 is calculated, as well as international override.
Expected credit hours is a more functional sort than simple BLG.
And then the two newest tools that truly make this next generation bidding software.
Grading and Commuting/TAFH.
Grading will let you pick several items of importance, weight each one, and sort the lines.
The most accurate and easiest way to bid several hundred lines deep.
Commuting/TAFH is critical for commuters in particular. Time Away From Home (vs TAFB) has been a missing feature in bidding software from the onset. Instead of imagining what the commute would be for each line or manually using paper and pencil separate from your bidding software, FxCal/FxBid will calculate and show your planned commute. You are then able to sort on the efficiencies of your commute against you expected credit hours. Finally!
FxCal/FxBid is fully functional bidding software, although it is young with a few bugs to work through.
Commit to trying it for the next three months (its free).
That will get you past the learning curve and the software will mature with fixed bugs, new features and some enhancements to make an easier user interface.
Come along for the ride as FxCal/FxBid matures into what has been missing in bidding software.
Here is how easy it is to submit your first bid:

Carlos-
Thanks!
FxBidLite was completely neutered except for bidding. Trying to give them no reason for the blacklist.
FxCal will import vacation downloaded from VIPS. In FxBidLite, add an Off block on your calendar. Be very careful to edit the time to start at 0630z and end 0629z, and change the first line to be 'VAC'. It will then import when you hit the 'Vac' button in bidding. There are still a couple bugs in the vacation package.
For max time off, nothing specific yet, other than the company published days off. But I bet you really want a blend of max time off, but still make the best bucks doing it. The commuting module is ripe to have an additional grade for that. Tell me what you need. Also, commuting will be Memphis friendly next month, so people living in domicile can still use it to adjust for deviating from the scheduled deadhead.

appDude,
Does it seem possible/probable/likely that the company's infosec will NOT be allowing FxCal and BidX on the company iPad any time in the near to mid term future? What time frame would you WAG?
(Trying to decide on whether to keep my own iPad for this reason alone).

Hard to say about when/if FxCal will be allowed.
Still getting no direct contacts in info sec, so I took this approach and cut out everything that I thought might be objectionable to any printed company policy.
I just hope some reason is applied and they do not create an additional policy to ban FxBidLite also.
Might be a baby step kind of thing, one step at a time.

Do you think possibly they don't want any type of bidding software on the ipad since it was something similar that got the Northwest guys in trouble. Is it possible they just don't want guys working on their bids while flying? I know it doesn't make sense because guys can get just as distracted playing angry birds, however from a PR standpoint it wouldn't be good to have guys go Lost Comm from a similar situation as the Northwest pilots.

If my facts are wrong, please do not post to correct, it would ruin a good point.

Allowing a bidding program (or any other app) on the Company iPad does not imply it is approved for use in-flight. You can put movies, videos, and music on your Company iPad but you're not supposed to be using them when you're the PF or PM.
Besides, I get way too engrossed in doing my bid to even think about working on it when I'm supposed to be flying the airplane. I suspect I'm not the only one with this operating limitation...

App Dude, it may have been PBS software sense I think that's what Delta was using and Northwest was transitioning over.
