Here's a wild idea:
Let the company go ahead and design their "perfect" PBS, with all the union input they say they want. Then, when it's tweaked to perfection, run it in parallel with our existing system on a "what if" basis for at least six months BEFORE the amendable date of our upcoming new contract. Sure, that'll delay it one contract cycle (at least!), but if it's so great and the trial period convinces everybody it'll work like the company says it will, it should be a shoo-in for the NEXT contract.
If it falls on its face, well, no one can say we didn't at least give it the ol' college try.
What I will NEVER agree to is to give the company a blank check and hope everything turns out well. Hmmm... have we been down this road before?
For me, there are a few issues in which any concessions will get an automatic "NO" vote regardless of whatever else is in the proposed contract.
1. Retirement
2. Vacation
3. Medical/disability insurance
And last but not least:
4. PBS

Well now there's a 3rd missive out. This one's all about how they're gonna 'fix' our vacation. Don't know about you, but I like my vacation just the way it is, thank you!
Also, they talk about their "proposal." That just kills me, like we should trust that all these great PIBS "proposals" would actually come to fruition.
I guess the question is, "How many times do you just have to say, NO?"

I don't think it is a side show or head fake, I think the company truly wants PBS. I think it would save them a fortune in insurance, retirement, vacation and reserve manning. I think they are even willing to share a much to small percentage with us. But as someone has said, 18% would be an insult for my QOL sacrifice. I do not trust the company to institute it and I am pretty sure we would lose all of the grievances.

They're really starting to **** me off. All I want to do is log in and do my job but they're in my face trying to negotiate with me, this is very distracting and unsafe. Maybe we all should take a little extra time during preflight to ensure we're fit for duty. We have the power.
My negotiating committee speaks for me, it's the safest way.

Poor form to say the least.

If helpful, I would be happy to do that......I'm doubtful FedEx would let me on the property if they new the agenda.......many on this forum know me, as I have made no effort to hide my identity.
Best regards,
