PiBS missive #2 is out......

As a bottom 25% guy, thanks to those senior guys speaking out against PIBS! I have never lived under PBS but the word 'efficiency' can't be good for my QOL... Stand Unitied against this; talked to your peers, junior and senior. Spread the word, f*ck no!

I worked at an airline with PBS before coming here and I can tell you that the QOL for everyone, including the senior pilots, was worse after PBS. We heard these same promises from our management there on how PBS would make things more transparent, respect seniority and in some cases improve our QOL. Of course none of this turned out to be true. Don't buy the hype that PBS will be good for you if you're in the top 20%. Remember the whole point of PBS is to make schedules more efficient and cost effective for the airline, not the crew force.

Auto "no" vote for me. Let's talk about trust...
--Custom lines--terrible
--Secondary lines--terrible
--Reserve trade/drop--unable
--4a2b..."intent" mangled to delay exit of same
-- excess bids....indicate that some will be advantaged and others disadvantaged..especially if you are an over 60 guy on the panel wanting the left seat back
You don't need PIBS to get efficiencies and predictability. The company can offer vacation buy-back, AVA, and a host of other incentives and you can get plenty of productivity and efficiency. What PIBS does is take away the ONLY control pilots still have--the ability to pick their line--and surrender it for a "promise" of fair treatment.
Good things I've seen lately...Ipads, more sleep rooms, and an effort to clean the jets. Do any of those undo years of tweaking and interpreting the contract with things like accepted fares, catering cutbacks, and trip revisions (that affect only the NON deviating pilot)? Not even close. Give us 5-10 years of real, honest effort to work in a collaborative manner to solve problems, and maybe they could fasten a system that would work. For now...I not only distrust them I am offended by their methods and disappointed in their stupidity. They seem to think the pilots have the collective memory of about 3 days. Just because we are smiling at work doesn't mean we have any doubts about who are friends are, and who they are not...
I was one of the voices saying three years ago the interim deal was a good move. Some of us put some of our personal credibility on the line to try to help create a climate where business could get done and we could find the win/win scenarios. That effort has led to the company again attempting to direct deal with the crew force and stonewalling on a issue that they know is untenable. Any faith I had in management to ever do anything but attempt to wrangle each and every nickel out of the pilot group is shattered. I'm not shocked. I am disappointed.
So..I've pulled out my hat. I've got a second job. I've got a savings account. And I am ready....
