I purchased a travel pro from their online outlet store. Just need your employee number and airline for access. Got a nice discount and free shipping. Ended up finding a coupon code somewhere else online.

Sorry to hear about the issues with Travel Pro, I was always under the impression they made a great product.
My first PNS bag lasted me 10 years. Only sent it back once for a "tune up", and only had to replace the wheels and bearings once. With the amount of commuting and crashpads I've been in dragging it over sidewalks as well as on and off subways and buses in addition to the job, I consider that pretty good. As well as the first 5 years of that I was on an airplane where we had to put our rollers in the back with passengers bags. That's A LOT of potential for a bag to get abused, as well as a lot failure inducing bag drag with 3-4 plane swaps a day.

As far as the quality since the switchover to LW, I'm not sure if it's as good of quality. It's STILL a tough bag, but the nylon seems to be a finer/less durable grade and the handle tubes seem a little flimsier. Like I said, STILL tough, but doesn't seem quite as tough as when it was PNS. However, the kick plate sees better built and is reenforced from my original, which is nice.

Mark, that was exactly my experience too. They couldn't do enough to keep you as a satisfied customer. That's why I was so shocked this last time when they wouldn't even repair a ripped zipper. It was like a whole different company and not one that I liked.

I should have gone with what I knew works...the Luggage works/purdy neat bag.
I have the 22, I should have purchased the 26, the strongbag is junk, really not and as durable as LW.

I got the 22" LW "suiter" model. Fits in the overhead bins and the additional zippered pocket on top is helpful for getting extra pants, uniform pieces, etc in. I can get my NF windstopper as well as a fleece liner in it during the winter. In the summers it's usually just empty. But as mentioned, when that compartment is full it is VERY heavy.

I did a lot of luggage research, and ended up with a Briggs and Riley purchased from my local luggage store. They bag is not cheap, but it looks sharp, is lightweight, and comes with a true, genuine, lifetime, no-questions asked warranty. And most repairs they can do right there in the store, or they'll send it in for me. So there's no need for me to mail luggage around the country. Well worth it in my opinion. The LW bags have a good reputation but they are heavy, and they are ugly IMHO; and they get uglier fast as the aluminum bits get beat up.

Purdy Neat Stuff will refurbish a bag for about $100 or so and send it back to you. Looks almost brand new when you get it back.

Oh, and then there's the 30 seconds between posts rule...






IF my PNS rollaboard ever wears out, I think I might give Briggs & Riley a try. They look nice, weigh a lot less, and are backed by a lifetime guarantee and what seems to be a commitment to great service.
