Unrealistic Accepted Fares.......Again
#31
They know it's a problem and have chosen not to set the fares 2-3 weeks before the bid month. This is about the time corporate travel buys some scheduled tickets. Not many, just some.
You are right that if the fares aren't working, it may be time to come in to MEM to take the scheduled. I recommend it also.
BTW, Speaking of "many" verses "some" -- I don't think you can say many tickets can be bought for less than the accepted fare.
Caught you speeding on that one.

To be precise it was company practice prior to implementation of fox to credit your bank with either accepted fare or issued fare whichever was higher.
The fox system gave them the capability to change things and they did so. One of the other changes was the automatic cancelation of ground transportation as soon as everyone on the pairing deviates. The big changes to our expense report as a result of fox is the approved fare column on the report. They added this because the accepted fare column never changes but the approved fare column reflects actual ticket price. Thus they can manipulate your bank in violation of the contract by playing games with the approved fare but as soon as you deviate it reverts back to the accepted fare.
A frequent poster here actually filled a grievance but was asked to withdraw it as it would hurt our secret negotiations. Just ask DT.
You know it would be a regular event for years.
They love to tinker without telling us until we get bit by it. PBS would be endless tinkering and many failed bids. Unless of course you had friends on the inside warning you of changes ahead of time.
Our culture is just too corrupt to establish a bond of trust.

Gunter-
it is my opinion that the accepted fares are shopped when the company determines whether a given pairing will be built as a DH or as a result of an extended layover from an operational flight.
I track my traveling expenses with a spreadsheet. Since the implementation of electronic expense reports, my goal is to spend every penny in my deviation bank. So, limos when there's extra money....and traveling by my preferred mileage partner versus always using the cheapest one. (Caveat in that I avoid long RJ flights if FC isn't an option)
This is my experience over the past 6 months-as always, your mileage may vary. Limos, parking not included. Just the air fares.
Bank - Deviation fares
1057 - 796
1089 - 1019
809 - 747
1775 - 1772
1581 - 1605
388 - 488
1578 - 1312

Wouldn't results like you've listed above be highly dependent on the airport you commute from? I have pretty good luck operating out of a major international airport that is home to two legacy carriers. Someone trying to do the same out of a smaller regional field would probably be out of pocket most months.

Instead of the often dreamed about plan to set a date for commuters to not deviate, wouldn't commuters not bidding DH at the beginning of the month have the same effect? Memphis guys would bid the DH trips and fly every one of them as scheduled.

Perhaps they decided to have the construction workers focus on getting the fancy phone systems in the not-so-brand-new sleep rooms working for peak
Does anyone know how to even set an alarm on those things?
I thought the purpose was to have guys preset a wakeup time, but then allow Flight Coordination to automatically delay the alarm once the sort went down late
That would preclude pilots from waking up on time, dragging bags to Flight Planning only to be told you're on Wave 6 and launching 3 hrs late
That would be "opening up a gateway of communication" guys would truly care about
Instead we hear a robotic voice telling us the system is not yet set up
When????

in the current climate, would management even be sympathetic to an event/situation like this?
