OK ... so you've just landed your 747 at a General Aviation airport with no control tower. What's the first clue that you screwed up (besides the fact that you can't tell where you are on the airport diagram and none of the taxiways have standard markings)? . |

They obviously weren't paying attention to the mileage countdown to the runway!

I take it you're a somewhat young pilot. (Senior Skipper? Really?)
Confused Delta Pilots Land Jet at Wrong Airport - Los Angeles Times Nice list of wrong airport landings Wrong Way Landings By Commercial Airliners This was after a few wrong airport landings. Ironically their ad campaign was 'Look where Delta's going now'! |

Other than what's in the media, I caution the Atlas guys to talk about this...be mindful of the corporate policy on these forum type sites, as well as social media like FB, Twitts (err, Twitter), etc
Also be careful that the pilots in question have enough to deal with this incident...The pilots' union and our reps are on it...so, I advise some respect for the process please. |

How do you get jet fuel? (although a GA airport with a 6100' runway might get corporate jets and "might" have fuel)

just took off. Media " less than 6K feet"
|
Logic would tell us that they have at least 6 miles worth of fuel left.
