I paid $850 in fed addl med last year - 2013. It was enacted under Obamacare. "There will be an additional 0.9% tax on earned income in excess of $250,000 for families and $200,000 for individuals to help pay for Medicare Part A".

That quote is from TimeMagazine.Com. You're rich according to our president so you need to pay more. Congratulations.

So you paid $850 last year to help Millions of people who can't afford health care and you're upset? You're probably saving lives and I'm sure it didn't affect you that bad. $70 a month to save live ain't that bad.

What I get a kick out of is the fact that most liberals/progressives feel so morally superior for supposedly helping other people out by spending someone else's money, extracted by force. Makes them "caring" and "compassionate".

So, you made $362,000 last year? ($250,000+94,500+17,500)
$850/.009 = $94,500.
Of course, I'm assuming you're married and maxed out your 401K

On behalf of your union brothers and sisters trying to negotiate a contract that ALL of us can prosper under ...I'd like to thank you for doing your part.

Oh yah...And, LET THEM EAT CAKE!

Your assumptions are wrong and your math is even worse. I hope you don't have to do math while you fly or else you'd be in trouble: roll eyes:

Don't think of it as $850, think of it as just another R Day to go along with the other 40 + 10 R Days you "contribute".

Well $30 a month anyways, the other $40 goes to overhead and fraud.

Why don't you pay my share since it won't "affect YOU that bad".

Also, since you're so giving, give me back my lost military retirement COLA increase out of your earnings, since that won't "affect YOU that bad" either.

Obamacare wasn't even supposed to kick in until this year (until Obama ignores the Constitution yet again to rewrite the law to hide the government's complete inability to even sign people up for health care, nevermind administer health care), so I didn't save any lives last year. But I did pay for their cellphones, lottery tickets, cigarettes, cable bill and beer, so I am probably actually responsible for killing a few people last year. Go ahead and ask me if that makes me upset....

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but......

I believe that additional 0.9% is withholding & your final "bill" will be based on your adjusted gross income when you file your tax return.

also, I thought I read somewhere that the company is obligated to start the additional withholding after you exceed the $200K mark - because they don't know if you'll file as an individual or jointly

so.....you may get some/all of that "Fed Addl Med" back if your AGI comes in below the limits ($250K jointly - $200K individually)

I'm sure I'm way off, but that's what I recall hearing/reading......
