For me the worst part of the job is worrying about a uncontrolled fire that I can't do anything about, which is due to lack of accountability of the $hit that I am hauling around the four corners of the world.

Next I would say is the fact for almost 4 years we have had 109 colleagues out on a furlough while this company continues to make obscene profits. The last 44 of which at the most cost 8 million a year to bring back while they paid "$185M of cost pressures and refunds associated with much stronger peak season vols" in the past quarter. Management at its best!

Hiring Managers while our guys are out pi$$es me off next.

After that, I would say the fact that they use our contract as toilet paper, where at every turn they find new creative ways to violate our CBA.

When we are done with that I would say spending 18 days out of 28 away from home to work a 75 hour line. I know I don't have to commute to work as some would say but when 80% of our pilots are commuters I really don't want to hear it.

How many more do you want me to list? I have at least a dozen more "worst parts of this job"to list and the guys that whine are not one of them!

Check yourself before you step on your crank on here or on the B&G.
Not invalid points!! 80% of our pilots are not commuters though.

I can't fricking stand all the negativity. Thankfully I've never heard it in the cockpit. If the job sucks, do something about it. Don't sabotage the union or bad mouth our IPA leadership. Frontseat should get outta Dodge and go where he'll be happy.

Wink

Haven't had 200 flight qualified managers in a long time, heard its closer to 120. Those who are miserable came to UPS under duress in 06 and 07, thinking it was some sort of parallel universe full of unicorns and lollipops. Where pilots sat reserve, never worked, picked up open time on days off and got rich. Ups is a business, trying to squeeze money from every corner of the operation. Ask how many drivers were laid off. They treat you like a number, and the check clears every 2 weeks. My legacy treated me better, but they still screwed me out of my pension, took 50% of my salary, and killed my benefits. But they were real nice about it. I'm here to make money, get as much time off as I can, and collect my pension..see ya.

Would I like to see them buy 50 777's, yep. Will it happen, nope. Will we be out of a job in 10 years, not sure. Will oil go to 250 a barrel and kill the airlines? This career is a crapshoot.

We fly nights, some days, and international..all with mediocre catering. They make things harder than they should be most of the time. Apply with this in mind and make an informed decision. Pretty simple.

Welcome back furloughed guys, beers on me

Why would he leave? Frontseat has too much fun tormenting you with his dislike of brown. He loved his last jobs, probably never ever complained..which is why he ended up at UPS? Good times. I'm going back to corporate, I loved the FBO's, arranging rental cars, eating all the free popcorn I could. Loading bags, landing in Podunk,Arkansas on the 23rd of December so my guy could go bird hunting through Christmas. That was the life for 56k.. Or maybe I'll go back to pax, 4 on 3 off for eternity...until 7 full days off for vacation week!! 82 hours of hard time, work every day of reserve when not siting in Q Gardens. Yep, turns out I've complained about every job I've had as well.

Congrats to all those @ Brown coming back. Your job is what you make of it. Choose to be positive and those around you will follow suit.

I'm sure being furloughed from a company making over 1B net profit a quarter for 3+ years will help their attitude.

If that doesn't do it, they'll probably appreciate not getting a ticket or j/s access to get back to ANC for training to go along with no hotel/per diem.

Your right sorry, I meant to say 80% of ANC pilots. Thats the number I heard at a Union meeting.

Or choose to be ****ed about forces you can't control and leave to find greener pastures. Either way ****ing about it on a anonymous web board solves zip. I don't agree with alot of their positions but trying to convice folks out of work for 3+ years not to come back sounds a bit petty.

Where did I mention anything about not coming back? I was merely pointing out issues which may lead to the returnees not having the greatest attitude that you say they should have.

18 days per month? Really? Who are you BSing? UPS pilots have more time off, have one of the highest W2s of any airline pilot in the US, have both a defined benefit and a defined contribution retirement plan, fly the least number of hard hours, and for the most part, fly very well maintained aircraft. For crying out loud, for everyone on this forum that has decided to make a hobby of "brown bashing", please do us all a favor and leave while the "better" airlines are hiring. I am sure your ACP would be willing to write you a letter of recommendation.
I am very excited to welcome back our 18 furloughees, and can't wait to see the other 26 back on the property. This is such great news! We are all looking forward to getting back into the business of growth and seeing our senior F/Os move into the left seat.
