I have no idea what might or might not be going on internally at the MEC, but I can say with 100% confidence no block rep is the impediment to getting a deal. I supported the first interim deal as a rep, and later voted FOR the second deal with the hopes that the company would also operate in good faith.

They have not. THEY are the reason we are still dragging along. THEY are the ones that threw out the red herring PBS BS. They are the ones who have been repeatedly intransigent on improvement retirement, healthcare, and a host of other issues. We gave them a chance, and IMHO they have blown it. I will never give them the benefit of the doubt of for the rest of my career when it comes to negotiations in good faith.

Even if and when I didn't agree with other folks on the union side, I never lost sight of who was working for the crew force, and who was working for the shareholders. Keep your focus. Stay informed. Support each other. And don't let rumors get you all whipsawed….

So was anybody at the meeting today who can shed some light on this?

Quote: 2cylinder,

Why should this contract pay to incentivize you to retire? More bennies for select few, that will likely not retire anyway. Reminds me of those guys I flew with in the Navy, b1tch about the bonus amount when the reality is they aren't getting out anyway.

Btw, I don't care if guys stay at this point.
Agreed and why should guys who can't make 25 years pay to extend the DB past 25. Although an argument can be made that improving healthcare between 60 and 65 would incentivize some to leave at 60, if no one goes there is no cost. I know I would be more likely to go at 62 or 63 if I didn't have to hang out in the Medicaid line will all of the other Obamacare Lead Plan owners.

Quote: From a recent Council 79 meeting:

"Scott (NC Chair) stressed that one of the biggest ways we could support the negotiations team is to STAY OFF of gossip websites such as APC, Jetflyers, Facebook, etc. Most of what you see on these sites is just plain wrong. Let the negotiating team do their job, and quit creating/supporting/continuing rumors."
Yeah APC is the reason we haven't brought the company to their knees.

Recall
He wants to be MEC Chair.

SS is planning on another run for ALPA National President and this is probably posturing.

Block 1 not happy. Recall.

...I will second that - KB is a great guy

I went to the MEC meeting yesterday and every aspect of it was first-rate. I saw a totally united MEC that is working hard day and night on our behalf. I like the way the meeting started. "What is ALPA? It’s an organization of pilots helping pilots." What a great quote coined by one of our own.

Various speakers talked of some disagreements, but it was all in the context of various block reps speaking to their member inputs as well as committee members speaking to their area of expertise. None of us want a herd mentality where our block reps blindly rubber-stamp the party line. My take was that the member voices are being heard. So some disagreement and discussion is a good thing. But at the end of the day, our MEC is very united and speaking to the company with one voice.

I’ve known some of the MEC members for many years both here and in the military. These people are truly the very best, and shame on me for not being there more often to support them. I will do better in the future by being there to fill one of the many empty seats while hopefully encourage some of my buds to go with me.

Block 1 rep wants to be MEC Chair?

So you want to see a recall of him as the block 1 rep? I assume you mean block 1 is not happy is referring to the block members?

My statement was if Block 1 are not happy, they are able to recall him.

Heard from more than a few he had delusions of being MEC Chair.

I'm not Block 1, so not attuned to what their feelings are on the issue.

But if he is going after KB, that is a sad thing.

Actually under our intriguing rules it would be up to the members of LEC 7 whose members include blocks 1, 4 and 8.
