I hope the union piggy backs off this FCIF and puts out a message discussing other distractions (like negotiations) and how we should be professional, well rested (flying extra will cut into your rest) and fly to rule. Seems like a good opportunity to me. The ATM

Don't know of too many conversations in the cockpit recently about graduations, vacations, and the like. Seems to be more about sick policies, negotiations, deviation webpages and things like that. Obviously mgmt doesn't know what is really distracting us. Only if it really were the items mentioned in the FCIF.

Guess I better call in sick the week before my vacation, I'll be too stressed from planning to fly. Better call in sick the week after the vacation because the vacation itself was too stressful!

Absolutely floored about the this FCIF...
Graduations and vacations? Nooooo.... Here's what the company brings into my cockpit.. When I click sick, I'm told to go to the DR to prove it. Accepted fares DO NOT MATCH what the company ultimately paid for the ticket. And we are still waiting on a contract. Graduations? Summer vacations? Pathetic and out of touch leadership. Period. |

Obviously I'm doing something wrong in the cockpit. I'm going to slow way down and make sure I'm not screwing something up. I thank management for clarifying what the union was telling us.

PS--Just remember guys, unfortunately we aren't negotiating with the likes of our ops leadership, but with lawyers. Keep your eyes on the ball, fly your contract, and My Negotiating Committee Speaks For Me. |
"This is the time of the year where there are many" management "distractions; Kids graduating, family vacations to plan and the vacation itself."
After re-reading the FCIF, I finally understand the author's perspective and intent. That's the way THEY think. Obviously, he meant to differentiate between management and line pilot distractions but he was so distracted in his cubicle that he forgot the other list. Thankfully, this thread has spelled it out for him. When will the clue bird land on their collective shoulder? Safety first! |
