Why don't we just say it...the non-member SCP was wearing the new lanyard.
I'm not all that impressed by lanyards or bag tags when I see the DP's getting sucked up, DRF calls getting answered and vacations getting bought. I'd rather we fix that than all wear a neat lanyard.
That being said, when BM wears our lanyard I take it as an insult, almost like he is mocking us...the very people he is supposed to be leading.
Oh wait, what was I thinking...leadership, right, mockery!

With all the negative publicity that occurred over last peak, I don't think the company can afford another one like it. I know UPS took the brunt of the bad press, but we had some ourselves. If we don't have a new contract before next peak, we just have to look in the mirror for the reason!

Who knows? Maybe he really is a pilot at heart, and actually does want us to get a decent contract. You don't really think all the things that appear to be coming from him are not actually directed by some non-pilot type further up the line, do you? Perhaps he's finding some of the things he's expected to do as management are actually in conflict to what he'd prefer to do. Perhaps he is giving a subtle hint that he does support a contract.
One can always hope.
