While I am not a moderator, I can certainly do the right thing and protect delicate sensibilities. Feel free to tell us how a vest has saved your life. Bonus points if you ride a bike in the military and feel you are more visible to the car making a rolling stop right in front of you.

To the poser of the question, ask your union lawyer if you are worried about it. But most FDX ramps escort you from the ramp to the stairs. If you are in Memphis the bus driver gets you as close to the stairs as possible and assumes you are smart enough to make it the rest of the way. To protect the really ignorant, the ramps are lit up like a Nuc Storage Facility or a Federal Pen so much so that the vests are virtually useless.

Hopefully now the other thread can stay open.

Please positive vest testimonials only. If you want to rag on the vest open your own thread.

Nuke Storage Facility ... that's funny

Now, in all seriousness, I frequently found a very real need to "keep my head on a swivel" while doing my walk-arounds in order to protect my rear end.

Reflective vests might not be a bad idea

.

Now you have done it, you have triggered the NSA monitoring software. You can't say nuc storage facility and not expect the feds to open your email.

A reflective lanyard could serve two purposes.

Here's how I see it... For you medium to older guys, if you're out and about on the ramp, wear a vest if it's available. It might not help, but it can't hurt. For you younger guys who grew up being given trophies for finishing last in your town's soccer league, even though you hardly played even a few minutes a game, don't wear the damn things, because they don't look cool, and besides, if you get hit by a 10,000 pound tug, it was obviously the tug drivers fault, so there.

Seriously, it's dangerous out there, wear a vest or not, but you are responsible for your own well being, so keep your head out of your butt hole and maintain your SA. And as MM said, keep your head on a swivel.

Maybe our experts from Airline Safety could come up with something innovative and inspiring to promote a safe culture.....

Perhaps if the vests were just a bit more stylish...All of you metrosexuals would not be so adverse to wearing them:

Default pussification of Merika!

Quit blaming somebody else. Man up and let's drive this country forward. Be responsible, take care of yourself. Let the citizens of the USA be the best we can be.

Sorry, not all deserve a trophy.

What does that have to do with wearing lime green out on the ramp?
