Freight Dog,
B scale is a pay level that came about at American Airlines, back in the early '80's. It provided that new pilots, that is recently hired pilots, would be paid a lower wage (for about 6 years if I remember correctly), for flying the same equipment and routes. Here at FedEx, when the company went from Falcons to B-727's, the saying was "Delta plus a nickle", then when the DC-10 came on property a wide-body pay scale was negotiated. So in effect, our wide-body pay scale is actually an A+ pay scale, if you get my meaning.

FedEx is flying 757s for the same rates as the 727. Prior to 9/11, majors were paying 767 rates for both the 757&767. Only after bankruptcy and concessions did the 757 get paid at a lower rate than the 767. I don't consider the 757 rate at FDX a B scale, but you're flying a bigger airplane for the same pay as you made on the 727.

And we are flying little busses for the same scale as 777. Good for the bus guys or bad the 777? I like one pay scale too but between work rules and pay I guarantee FDX coughs up as much per pilot as UPS we just choose to split it up differently. This perception on some of you guys seems obsessive. Mine is bigger.
Their 757 pay IS bigger.

This is so typical. Someone posts a legitimate question about what to expect in training and in less than 4 posts the mud slinging starts. The OP is obviously excited about their new job and curious for information. Why don't you just try to provide him with what he asked? Oops, I forgot, this is APC.

American / APA in 2003. They went to Con-man Carty and said...how about we give you 1900 TWA pilots for furlough.
Con's response...sounds great, and I'll give myself a bonus...win win.
Two great Airlines..One great future (for the APA)
