Default FedEx- standby period added.

I had a trip earlier this week with two outbound legs. The first leg was canceled and a standby period added in its place. I turned in the request for disruption pay and it was denied. I have a buddy who had a similar thing happened to him last week. His disruption pay request was approved. I called contract enforcement and they said that the disruption pay only counts if the standby is built into time that should have been off. Since the standby only cover the first leg they said that the disruption pay it did not count in this instance. Is this correct? Did the company make a mistake by approving my buddies request?

Contract says in: 25.b.iv - a standby period is added to a duty period for reasons other than maintenance or weather (e.g., snow, ice).

Doesn't mention anything about being built into time you should have off! Maybe you should contact the grievance office and see where that goes

Check the little justice scales in that section of the contract. There have been some grievance settlements that may apply.
