Their Convairs are the nicest you'll ever see too. They take pretty good care of their planes.

You made a smart choice staying out of pil, though the two new convairs captains there upgraded in close to a year from what I understand, they're both great guys but their bosses there can be difficult.

El Diablo in MFE will be pretty fun to fly with too.

The guys in TX are alittle different then the guys up in PTK. The FO that made 55k in 11months flew ALL THE TIME. He worked his butt off. Good to see they finally have another crew in MFE. The FO's up in PTK on the convair will bring in $2000 a month GROSS. Plus $25 a day per diem, 10cents a mile after 16k miles in a month (HA...i did that once, dont count on it) $100 for a boarder crossing. Convairs are great, all but one are really nice airplanes. I know they havent been flying to much the past 6months but its slow in the winter anyways. This time last year they where flying like crazy. Great job, great guys to work for/fly with, awesome plane to fly. Schedule sucks, call outs suck.

Who was it that upgraded in PIL? Was it Dan, or are you talking about Jay?

I thought Jay upgraded at the end of the summer, Tomas as far as I know upgraded a few months after but I may be wrong.

Are you at ifl, or did you do your time and move on to greener pastures like 99.9% of us?

As far as on-demand freight goes they are a pretty stand-up operation, the schedule does suck, the maintenance is good, the people are all great there, I've see way worse.

Im currently working there, planes are great for being freighters, but they still have their problems seeing their age. Schedule, or lack of is one of the main drawbacks. Not a good place to work if you plan on maintaining a good social life. Another draw back is pay, the pay is right with first year regional pay, its actually I beleive $100 or so more a month compared to the regionals. The drawback concerning pay is there is no second year pay, the pay rate stays the same. They slightly reduce your guarantee once, which very few f/o's even break anyways. If you need a lot of hours and plan on staying somewhere for a while, regionals would be considerably better, mainly for the schedule and larger load of flying. Overall, its a solid operation and everyone is great to work with there. Ask away if you have an questions.

Pretty much the same experience I had there. If one is looking to build time and can overlook their life outside of work, then try and fly the falcon there. If you want to sit around and aren't concerned with how much time you need take the convair, the year I was there us convair pilots flew about 300 hours a year give or take (big waste of time when you are less than 1000tt), I've heard as of late it's been about 500 a year, still not a way to build time if thats what you need.

Im in the falcon, roughly im averaging 400 for the year. As of now the convair's are flying even less. If you get into an outbase (MFE, PIL, MIA) you will fly a lot more in general. I agree completely with Jpilot77, good operation just a waste of time if you are looking to upgrade in reasonable amount of time if you have less then 1000TT.

Jon, you the military guy out of NM looking for a pilot slot?

I worked there from April last year till november......i agree with you guys, loved flying the convair and the people i worked with just hated the schedule and the small amount of flying. Im at American Eagle now and actually make alittle bit more money and have a pretty good schedule. I made a good move dispite what many others would say about a regional.
