At FedEx, min for a 3 day trip is 18,
Our min is 6 per day, fun to meander about town on the long layovers, I know I've seldom felt better rested while working for FedEx.
1 day to recover from....then one day to rest up for makes for a great trip.
Typically had about 11sh landings in my 90 day lookback when I held those lines

Take Walrus's retirement numbers - next 10 years 43% of pilots will retire. Let's see, for a typical 25 year pilot career you'd expect 4% to retire every year - so in those 10 years Fedex has 3% more than what what would be expected. Not to mention that Fedex has done very well in trimming the pilot force - we have far less pilots today than just 3 years ago. There's probably a reasonable chance that we will have the same amount of flying with another reduction in overall crew force - I wouldn't expect that 43% retirement number in the next 10 years to hold - will probably end up being less than 40%.

Just to clarify. The minimum 3 day trip at AA will pay at least 11 and change thanks to trip and duty rigs. While we don't have the coveted "5hr min day" that guarantees 15hr 3 day trips where you sit all day on day 2, the majority of our 3 day trips pay at least 15hrs all the way to 19 +. That said, we do have industry standard trip and duty rigs that ensures we never see less than 10hr 2 day trips and less than 11hr 3 day trips. So the 5hr 2 day and the 8hr 3 day do not exist here.
Our contract was not stellar as it's our first post-BK JCBA and delta and united are both well into their second and third contract cycles since their exits from BK. As I recall, their first post BK contracts were a lot worse than ours.
The pay rate is great, we just need to come back up on the work rules.

At FDX, what we consider a daytime - 1 day trip, is leaving the first afternoon and returning the next morning. Most airlines would consider that a 2 day trip. FDX only pays 6 hrs for that "2 day trip". What most at FDX would refer to as a 3 day weekend trip is near literally a 3 day trip, 3x24 = 72 hrs. At most "real" airlines, a 3 day trip is rarely an actual 72hr period.
Trip rigs, duty rigs, minimum duty period and minimum daily pay are the true indicator of credit hours, for time spent at work. Of course, there are hard time trips to consider, as well.
My point is, a 2 day or 3 day trip at FDX and AA are not really comparable.
Edit: Tuck beat me to the point.

To simplify it for guys with a family, you can miss dinner at home for two nights at most passenger carriers and get 14-18 hours of pay. At fedex you lose the first night, before you even go to work and then three days of work cost you three more nights away from home but only get 18 hours of pay for almost 4 nights away from home.

One 5 day trip in March pays 31:07, TAFB 116 hours, 12 block hours, one 75 hour layover and one 23 hour layover. Total on duty time of 18sh hours.
If FedEx cancels a trip, then I'm pay protected...which wasn't the case under the old AA contract-no clue in the new one.
Our vacation system, health care, retirement, and-God help me-monthly scheduling are all way better. Love the fact that a decent percentage of our trips are scheduled DHs.
So, I don't want to give up my A plan, accept PBS-just to exceed AA's pay rates. Just me, but a 16% B plan isn't worth it just to claim the highest pay rate.
My total compensation is the whole package, cut my hourly rate in half and up the min duty period pay to 7sh with a corresponding trip rig change. Doesn't matter to me. I just want my W2 to increase with some mods to our A&B plan and a more rational travel bank system. With the minimal flights out of Memphis, deviation travel is saving the company a ton of $$ and they should share the wealth

308 at AA equates to 288k. Isn't one one of our big issues the fact that 777 Capt, at current rates, takes home more than that?
Haven't compared recently, but I worked 'fewer' days for FedEx than my buds did for AA. And spent less time commuting, less wasted time in airports going to/from

You're talking about the AA contract.
I'm talking about the AA pay scale.
I'm not saying we should adapt the AA work rules. I'm saying we should be have a better pay scale. We are different companies that offer different inherent opportunities. I can't be domiciled in
BOS, DCA, DFW, LAX, LGA, MIA, ORD, STL. With our lack of other QOL issues outside of the contract like more locations, pass travel, etc, we should be better paid. Both in pay scale (we make bags of cash) and in work rules (night hub turns are hard on the body).
