FDX Service Awards

This program reminds me of "Tops in Blue" in the Air Force….a program someone long ago decided improved morale and made folks happy, but instead just reinforces cynicism and contempt.
That said, I got a watch at the 10 year point. I like it. I will sometimes wear it at work with the uniform.
The world is a lot more cynical that it was 30 years ago. Employees used to appreciate a retirement watch or fishing rod, etc. Now we ***** about the quality. Some of that is our frustration with the company, but a lot of is a changing world and workplace.
Nicest gift they could give the crew force IMHO would be a gift subscription to BidX and let us use it on our company IPADs. That would be a nice gesture and something most of us would use regularly...

Just got a catalog to order my 10 year service award "gift". As we negotiate for a contract, I think this well highlights our value in the company's eyes.
I went on Amazon and priced the lovely assortment of "gifts". They retail for about $12 each.
I'm guessing FDX is paying less than that. I'm glad my service is worth a dollar per year to them. They'd be better off to cancel this program than to actively mail this insult.

I got a globe. I like it, and my kids use it.
I got a knife. If I carry it to work I get fired. It sits in a drawer.
I got a roller bag for my wife. It's no Briggs and Riley, but she likes it.
Complaining about something you got for free and didn't like, will only lead to it being taken away from someone else who might benefit, even if it is only in a small way.
If you don't like the selection, don't choose anything, or choose something and give it away.
I'd like to see the old "Bravo Zulu" program brought back, complete with the steak dinners. I am not holding my breath.
I'd really like to see a contract.
Every time they publish one of those "thank you for your hard work" letters, I want to say "show me the money".
For the management lurker that is reading this board, the crew force is tired of the delays. We are tired of being treated like we are not an important part of the FedEx team. We are tired of getting raises that don't keep up with inflation, and then being asked for give backs in our contract. It's way past time for a contract that rewards us for our hard work that contributes to the company's success night after night.
Stop jerking us around, and give us the contract we have already earned.

Last summer, when I got the package for my 20yr award. I checked it all out, priced a few item - all crap. In the end, wasn't worth my time to even order my "free" junk item. I even called the company/vender for the company, in case there was some secret list of items I was missing. Nope. My 5 yr I got a very nice clock that stills sits on a mantle in my house. My 10 yr I got the globe - not super expensive, but at least it had a logo on it and looks nice on a shelf next to my model MD11, DC10 and Navy models. This stuff now is pure crap. What's worse, I kept getting these annoying emails to order this crap. It finally ended after 6 months. I bought myself a bottle of Firefly Sweet Tea vodka as a 20 yr gift to myself, instead.
