Seriously? I don't fly airplanes that are dangerous or illegal. A quick call to the union would take care of that little problem. Probably a quick cal to the POI to let him know that his certificate holder was demanding pilots fly unsafe and illegal airplanes.

If Kalitta had ups system it would be a simple solution for that ...call one of the future scab off the street overnight yes man ie: management pilots and they be glad to move that plane for you.

I was so excited to be getting out of an RJ when I was hired there and supposed to start class back in January 2012, but it sounds like I should be counting my blessings that my class got cancelled. Good luck to you guys there. I hope you guys get the cba improvements that you rightfully deserve.

Awhile back there was a crew that had a plane with an MEL. THe MEL required some paperwork changes. There was exactly 1 person at Kalitta that could provide the required paperwork in order to be legal for flight. It was a weekend or that person was on vacation, and he refused to provide the required paperwork, and instead threatened the crew with a trip to HQ to visit the Chief Pilot if they did not accept the aircraft. My understanding is the crew got the feds involved and found a work around....far nice than I would have been....I would have asked when my ticket to DTW was booked and had a pleasant conversation with the CP about why a crew was being told to operate the AC outside of the MEL.
Think long and hard about coming to company who pushes its pilots to fly illegally and tries to change the contract unilaterally.

For the most part the guys are great to fly with. There is always that 1-2% you can't stand to be with, but that's anywhere you work. If you get paired up with a crew that constantly complains about the company or the union or whatever, then it can a very long 17 days. I try not to get too wrapped around the axle about anything anymore. I just go to work and try to make the best of it and go home. .
Does the company do the stupid things mention in these posts, yes they do. Do we deserve a better CBA, yes we do. Some may agree or disagree about what I said, but it is what you make it. If you don't like it then leave. This company and job is not for everyone.
Just my two cents.

The flying itself is easy. The places we go to are ones we have been to many times before, unless there is a trip thrown in to a place where no one has been before. Then it can get a little demanding.. We do have some very long days, especially when double crewing.

lots of guys have moved on (or retired)... when I hired on 4 1/2 years ago I was about 290ish on the seniority list... by january I will be in the low 180s... and thats even with 4 or 5 FEs that have moved from the back seat to the right seat... so as you can see.. thats a lot of moving on in 54 months... that said.. there are a group of guys who for whatever reason... are hanging on.. or not really looking too hard to move on.. everyone has different reasons. Certainly can't deny just about anything thats been written... but as Cobra said.. its also what you make of it... This COULD be a great place to work... right now its just a job.
