Just read this entire thread and can't help but laugh at the ignorant morons who were lynching the OP for "being crazy".

Well to be fare they were calling him crazy for saying Amazon would be the largest Parcel Delviery airline inside two years. It's been about that and they don't even have all the aircraft on property and they would be lucky to match 1/10 of what UPS or FDX do.
So yea the assumption that Prime Air would smoke UPS and FDX in two years was certainly some crack pot claim.

No way will be Amazon even be close to FedEx or UPS due to the Amerijet/Centurion pay rates ATSG is trying to pass off as industry standard. The millennials have choices as to where they work.

BoilerUP 06-04-2017 11:13 AM

I thought he was crazy because he said bigger than UPS and FDX in parcel delivery in two years. I challenged that ridiculous, unrealistic comment multiple times in this thread.

Getting there *eventually*? Maybe...time will tell, they've got a LOOOOOOONG way to go and the industry will continue evolving with each passing year. Also, UPS and FDX aren't just going to sit idly by and allow their duopoly to be threatened without a STOUT fight.

Amazon can't compete yet in air delivery. It will only get worse in the future due to pilot shortage.

We have some internal issues at Prime Air. I'm speaking for all us that fly under those colors.

ATLAS and ATSG are in the process of whipsawing pilot groups. The good news is that it's starting to solidify the work force. Eventually it will hit an apex, only then will we know the direction of Prime. Pilots groups can be very brutal towards one another. Nevertheless, we have been beaten over the head with CRM. When a common problem is identified we naturally form up.

Hmmmmm..... how did that work out ? What's next ? Like several others, I thought initial post was grandiose, yet felt that Amazon would have an in-house air network of meaningful size within that 2 year time frame. Almost 20 months and counting, still a very long way to go to get a ~200 plus aircraft fleet.

20 years. This August marks two decades since the epic slugfest which saw IBT drop UPS to the canvas in 16 days. Yes, NMB just granted Prime's contractor a nice favor with a bureaucratic reaffirmation of what was essentially already in place. You may operate a single carrier brand, owning/holding/controlling multiple certificates, provided you go to the trouble of making them appear independent in a manner acceptable to the board. But, and it's a doozy of a but, the story of transportation in NA is still, hand in glove, the story of organized labor. How Prime paddles into that, so far, hasn't been very innovative as far as I can tell?

It will take a common union to do it, once that ramp is controlled the rest will follow.

Most at ATI were expecting a sizable pay increase its ever more clear that this will most likely go to mediation and stalling us at sub commuter pay for a while longer. The people that were once anti teamster are now starting to think about it a little harder.

Plus Id bet there are some things brewing on the 1224 side Im sure.

One more thing........

Union email says to keep up hard work be professional and move freight for ATSG......you know the people underpaying the F out of me and even give newbs an off contract pay hike for first year.

Also some dumb @$$ brit on the news just said we could defeat terror with hugs and education!

Just for the record, Im giving the second story more weight. Should I start hugging the guy with the suicide vest first? Should I start with a knife attacker then work my way up?

motorclutch 06-06-2017 04:05 AM

CTR.....as evidenced by recent events at ATSG, you can usually see the knife before they plunge it into your back. Now, it's more apparent they aren't using knives or aiming for the back. The target zone is much lower!
