Amazon Prime Air

Well everyone probably knows that Amazon was the first company to be authorized to fly commercial drones, but what you don't know is that they are flying two B-767's and within the next two years are planning to be the world's' largest overnight parcel delivery service. Yes that includes FedEx and UPS. I know this to be a FACT not a rumor. I work for them .

flyinhawyan 10-22-2015 02:44 AM

How do you apply? Where are the domiciles going to be?

Nightflyer 10-22-2015 02:49 AM

So are the 767's drones?

How are they going to build the infrastructure in two years?

727574drvr 10-22-2015 03:20 AM

No they are not drones. We have already done space flight, last April, and are in competition with Space X for flights to the ISS. Check out Blue Origin on YouTube. We have been training our own current employees for CDL for the ground logistics. You'll see, we're a different kind of company. I will provide more information as I receive it.

NoHaz 10-22-2015 04:14 AM

Do they have a sim we can rent?

Good luck with that.

What might Amazon's IATA code be for their two 767s?

Well may not be a bad idea as the stock market has decided that Amazon doesn't really need to make a profit...

No you weren't. BP was.

Press Release ? FAA Approves First Commercial UAS Flights over Land

While I welcome competition as it is good for the economy, flying 767s remotely or by autonomously will be extremely risky. The Department of Defense who has more drones/UAVs than any other operator by far has crashed an extremely high percentage of those machines. Removing the pilot from the cockpit and placing them on the ground introduces incredible infrastructure challenges and risk and isn't a reality in today's airspace and airports. Removing the pilot and have them fly autonomously, impossible today.

Your CEO is wasting money venturing in areas which isn't the company's forte. This has proved disastrous to many companies throughout history. I wish ya'll the best of luck.

acebaxter 10-22-2015 10:08 AM

Rumor has it they are currently using two different carriers for ACMI work. Amazon is keeping this very quite at this point. Should be interesting to see where it goes.

Not a bad start for a first post on APC

Maybe so. FedEx has a good management team in place.(Pilot contract, USPS deal, TNT deal, expanding markets....). UPS's management style leaves me speechless at times. They succeed in spite of themselves. I really don't know how much longer the madness can go on within this place. The impending fiasco with airframes along leaves many concerned here!

I seem to remember a couple of companies that had the same mindset as Amazon. Good companies that felt they could do anything, as long as it was managed correctly. Everything went fine for a while then the house of cards came tumbling down. They never recovered.

YMMV

HoursHore 10-22-2015 04:48 PM

Why would they build a network when they could just buy one?

ATSG even has a code name for it, operation "Aerosmith"

Known cities are Allentown, Pa and Ontario, Ca with some things being sorted in ILN.

Very hush-hush, very interesting. What is uncle Hete up to now?

The other one is being operated by Northern Air Cargo from San Bernadino to Seattle (Operation Alpha). I believe there is another one out of Idaho.

Looks like NAC is doing a SBD-BFI-BOI-SBD triangle.

NoHaz 10-23-2015 03:32 AM

found this...
For the first time since 2009, ABX Air will again be performing regular flight service out of Wilmington, Ohio (ILN). AGS (Airborne Global Solutions) has entered into a contract to operate a small system moving cargo between domestic points. It begins on September 14, 2015, utilizing both ATSG carriers on a 7-day-per-week schedule. This system will begin by operating two B767-200 aircraft on routes out of Ontario, California (ONT) and Allentown, Pennsylvania (ABE) through Wilmington and expand a few weeks after initial start up to add B767-200 aircraft operating from Tampa, Florida (TPA) and Oakland, California (OAK). We are under a strict Non Disclosure Agreement with AGS's customer; therefore this business is being referred to as "Aerosmith." ABX will operate the ONT-ILN-ONT route beginning September 14 and the TPA-ILN-TPA route beginning September 28. LGSTX and AGS are handling the ground, limited sort, loading of airplanes, and the truck inbound and outbound activity here in ILN and also managing the out-base operations. We are very excited about this opportunity, and while this operation is currently being done on a short term contract, we are looking to do everything that we can to make it a success and have it extended and hopefully expanded over time.

A year ago the stock was around $300 a share.
It closed yesterday at $563 a share.

Dude,

They have special "hospitals" with special medicine for people like you. They even have real doctors that come and visit you every day.

Good luck with that ...

I'd bet a steak dinner that he doesn't work for a company that has unmanned 767 aircraft.

He seems to have a VERY big imagination. Does he hear voices also?

Maybe I missed it but where did the OP say they had unmanned 767's?

PotatoChip 10-23-2015 11:05 AM

Again... He never said unmanned 767s. Read the post.

727574drvr 10-23-2015 12:51 PM

That was a question I asked, and a previous post by someone else as well as what was explained to me by Amazon management kinda spelled out that they quickly disposed of buying a company that has plenty of problems in place would be off the mark for Amazon. Incidentally, I have posted on APC before and have been a user since 2011.

I can't imagine stakeholders would be terribly thrilled at the Capex required to become "the world's' largest overnight parcel delivery service" within the next two years...

727574drvr 10-23-2015 01:10 PM

YGBSM right????? Who ever the retard that thought, misread, implied, or otherwise we were "considering "droning airplanes" somehow got lost in the translation. I was flying jets when most of the posters on this site couldn't spell flight school. I will "still" provide information as the mission statement of this website says, "Pilots Helping Pilots". IMHO, those who choose to troll this site and make stupid posts to attempt to antagonize others; PornHub and Redtube are free site to help you get over your frustrations.

The idea is that we stop using brown and purple to deliver our packages. I think the shareholders should like that. The stock market is speculative, and one should always consider risks when investing. :)

Sure there are, Boeing will happily build you one or you can cut a door in a 737 or md80 for a relatively low price tag.

Otterbox 10-24-2015 05:27 AM

You guys can keep the drone 767s, I just want a car that will auto drive me home from the bars after last call ;).

Both of ATSG's airlines are very busy and recalling due to the "Aerosmith" customer in Wilmington. Hopefully it will continue after the 4th quarter test.

Not in 24 mo.'s they won't. 20 years and 20 billion may not be enough to accomplish what this guy is suggesting. If Bezos wants to take over the world for SPECTRE like his mentor Blofeld, better he should stick with drones.
