To each his own. There is a big difference between Legacy lifestyle and the regionals. I don’t know that it’s a fair comparison.
I’ve done 135, regional, legacy, and the cargo. I’ve found things I enjoy at each place. As I get older and have a young family, I find long trips aren’t a great fit. |

Amazon would have to spend BILLION$ to match the global networks that FedEx , UPS and DHL have. It’s relatively easy to be BIG in the USA , a lot more difficult and expensive to reach globally. Amazon , by seizing the US market as it has done , can only dream of such worldwide networks. Not cheap , not overnight and not likely. Alibaba ?

Don’t be silly, stumbling around on icy ramps, climbing frozen hard stands in the middle of the night, isn’t a choice. Don’t let yourself to be conned into this ridiculous mindset. Flying old hand me down jets for one of the Amazon, DHL subs shouldn’t be a career destination just part of the journey. The advantages of flying for a legacy passenger carrier cannot be measured when compared to night freight, hub flying and I’ve done a lot of both. You young guys and gals should get your butts into the right seat of a new, well maintained, well dispatched jet with FAs and screaming babies in the back. Don’t let old guys, who will forever be 3 units short of a BS degree convince you that this is preferable, it’s not!......Thank me.

I think agcat was joking. And you all bit the bait like a northern pike on a spinner.

I can't offer a fair comparison between regional and the big three, other than seeing mainline pilots doing the same exact goat rope I was doing and despised every second of it. If the future has me making that decision, I just hope I have something on the side that would allow me to say no and hang my hat from this industry, if I couldn't keep doing what I am doing now.

I don’t mean this in a bad way, but they weren’t doing the exact same thing you were. They have options. Long haul. Short haul. International. Domestic. Wide body. Narrow body.
One cannot argue that living on base is the best of everything. Do I want to move my family and machine shop across the country? No, I do not. |
This my job is better than your job neener neener stuff is unbelievably tedious.
