ABX today announced they are in talks with ANA to provide lift. Nothing firm, but looks like this is going to happen. If this does happen, almost certainly means new hires.

If your source is the guy pushing our "image" than I would take it with a grain or cube, or block of salt. This is this the same management that denied the the Asians were looking at our opperations 2 weeks ago. Kind of tough to miss the 2 van loads of Asians unloading in the front office.
IMO the Japan deal is a "done deal" there were 2 seperate press releases about it. One from ABXA and the other from ANA. The big question is to have the deal done means they (ABXA) priced it out using the current contract. That means whatever concessions they can get from the union on duty time, days off, domiciles, ect.... will be lining mngmts pockets, while we fly around with the usual no support that we have come to expect from ABX.
Last question, do they have Subway in Japan so we can stop and get our "crew meal" before we show for our 16 hours of duty......

I'm not so sure they did price it out using our current contract. From what I have gathered, payscales have pretty much been negotiated, or I would bet mgmt could pretty easily "assume" what our new scale will be. Mgmt also has to negotiate with us how this flying will be done, that will be the trickiest part

The city pairs ANA announced as 200SF runs are comparable to our domestic flying now, so I don't think we'll need 16 hour duty days. ANA has their own 300ER's for the long-haul stuff. Longest city pair I saw for the -200 was Osaka-Bangkok which is just a bit longer than LAX-JFK.

Anyone hear the crew meeting the other night. I missed it and am looking for some info. So far all I heard was Japan to be started with 2 planes and 12 crews sometime in March. Would love to hear what was said
