There was a no show in class yesterday, he left a message on a recruiter's phone over the weekend saying he was going somewhere else.

What a turd, some other guy could have had his slot if he had called just a few days earlier.

I wonder what his sponsor thinks about his actions. Not only did he block someone else from starting, but he did not help his sponsor's credibility with mgmt.

If your sponsor is better connected with the ACP's and SCP or Standards folks he might have more pull, all the better for you. Bottom line your sponsor must be proactive on your behalf.

So for you FedEx wannabees, you need to ask your friends what they have done for you. Did they just write you a letter or have they and do they continually check on you and go to bat for you with their MGT contacts?

This makes the difference in getting a call next week for the interview or pacing like an expectting dad in the Maternity ward. Good luck
-RedeyeAV8r,

Do you wannabe my sponsor? I already have one, but you might be a better candidate...

I do have letters (I think) and a sponsor that's doing his best (I hope), and I've heard that M&G are not happening until March (that's info from his ACP). FWIW

Any other info out there???

I guess the one good point is he'll never work here. We don't need any more selfish *********s.

Kinda myopic to call him a turd. He could have been waiting to hear about another opportunity. Now there can be 13 in the next class.

If he had skipped just before IOE I would be more inclined to call him a turd.

Even then it still gives someone else an opportunity with the hole he would leave.

But we are all sure we know the answers since we're pilots.

We are but cogs in the machine....

While I think he may have passed on the best job in aviation, its hard to judge without knowing his situation. If he was from Louisville or Dallas, had been in our pool for 11 months, had his class date kicked back and kicked back....and last week got an offer from SWA or UPS...that might be a different story.

His sponsor? Yeah...I'm sure that ain't good...

Sometimes when it rains it pours. How many times do you talk to people who say that while things have worked at well at Brand X, that it was always their hope to work at Brand Y but X called first? That's life and we don't always get what we want, but some people are lucky enough to have multiple offers in a short time forcing a decision that will not be popular with someone. Either way it's a free world, no one has to work at any particular job.

I agree with Danielson. While FedEx is my first choice and the first choice of a whole lot of other guys its not everybody's first choice and for a several reasons. If he was good enough to get on with Fed then he was pretty much qualified for every airline in the world. We all have different preferences but for most of us our first priority is to make sure we can provide for mama and the little ones (or just yourself for you single types :-)). Fed may have been the first to allow him to secure that priority (bird in the hand) but he obvioulsy ended up with two birds and had to let one go...

I'm actually very happy he left...I hope they give me his slot

Of the six folks I interviewed with, three were invited into the pool. Surprisingly, of those three, I am the only one now flying for FedEx. I'm at the place I wanted to be (and the only one I applied to) whereas they had choices, went a different direction and seem genuinely happy. Good for them.

With that said, based on the current hiring process at FedEx, I will be darn sure the candidate I sponsor really, really wants to be here. Rec letters are one thing, as previously mentioned, but a sponsor can't afford to waste a silver bullet on somebody who turns down a class date here. The FedEx wannabes in my network understand this. I've been honest with them and told several the best I could do is a letter of recommendation based on our conversations about this job and others they might be pursuing.
