latest from our Flight Ops "I expect hiring to continue on the MD-11 and expect to hire directly into the B747 in the near future."

What is this about? I have looked around but cant find any info on it. It does not concern me but just wanted to know.

Are you a former ATA flight deck crewmember on the ATA cockpit crewmember seniority list as of April 3, 2008?

Will the pilot job window appear on their "normal" website, along with the non-pilot openings?

The application window for pilots is indeed posted along with the non-pilot openings.

Update:

I've been flying with brand new MD-11 FO's. They are telling me that the last of the ex ATA folks that wanted to work for us are in the pipeline. This means that others will soon be joining the ranks.

As for the web site questions, I've said all along that you need to go old school and mail a resume in. Keep looking at the web site, as HR opens it when they are getting ready to interview.

Looking for some general info.

When you are on reserve out of the country are there particular places? How many days are you there and do you have the ability to take advantage of down time by venturing out.

I believe you have 16-18 day tours. Assuming your travel is included in this if you leave on day 1 and travel international. Land on day 2 when do you start flying? Day 3 or same day/night after rest. If I am going to be on the road that long I would like to go explore when possible.

Any other items you think are important. I have tried to search multiple forums and do see a lot of current info.

Thanks!

I haven't done online reserve (ORL as it's known), so I may not be 100% on this. Honestly, the cites change as the contracts do to some extent, so where is a bit of a moving target (literally). Also, you may or may not actually sit where you think you're bidding for (eg; you think you're bidding ORL in FRA, but end up sitting in/flying out of Ostend or Abu Dhabi.

16-18 days is about right, but bear in mind if you bid a line with the end of one month on and the beginning of the next on, you could be out over 30 days. Also, many lines are being built with carryover days, so you can end up losing days off in the next month if you bid for a line with carry over or lead in. You can explore to some extent, you essentially need to notify the captain or company if you're going to be away from your contact number for more than 5 hours.

Yes, travel generally starts on day one. We are home based, so in some cases guys on the west coast occasionally lose a day positioning just due to the logistics of getting to some locations, but I that's the exception rather than the rule.

We're in the middle of contract negotiations, so coming here now entails all of the fun that is associated with that.

I have to go fly now, I'm sure a few others will post more info for you...
